I have asthma, allergies, IBS, gastoparesis, and hyperhydrosis. But now, after having two kids and having preeclampsia, I also have to monitor my blood pressure and take BP meds daily. I'm praying that the BP issues go away!

I am very lucky, aside from a family history of potential issues.

I am overweight, and I really don't want to pass that on to my kids (nor the body image issues that led to an eating disorder as a teenager). I am also prone to kidney infections, so I have to drink more water than most people.

I have mild eczema, sensitive skin, a skin problem on my back that's unresolved (though I've seen a few doctors about it years ago), really bad teeth, a bad knee from a childhood accident, and now a bad ankle thanks to a recent accident.

DH was also born with bad teeth (though not as bad as mine), allergies and bad vision.

I have endo, severe allergies (both outside allergies and food allergies), asthma, chronic UTI's (about 10 a year), and an awful set of tonsils that need to be taken out.

Since I have been pregnant I have developed very high BP (on bed rest now) and placenta previa--i don't know if that's considered a health issue though.

@Modern Daisy: Nope. After I was diagnosed on the second day in the hospital, they sent me home with some ibuprofen. During my stay they gave me morphine and some other painkillers and it did nothing for the pain, just made me throw up. :(

I have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, a pretty rare disease that has knocked me for a loop. It's not genetic, but my doctors have asked that I not conceive due to the stress it would put on my body. So we're currently in the process of gestational surrogacy. The disease surfaced a year ago when I got off of the pill to try and get pregnant. I had thought my first overnight stay in a hospital would be for delivery, instead I spent a week in the cardiac ward. That said, I'm so glad we discovered it before I got pregnant.

@tina: OMG, the two-head look is the worst! I even made one doctor get mad/frustrated because he had no idea what I was talking about and kept telling me it was acid reflux. DH has been bugging me to go back to a different doctor, so I will do that soon and mention Devil's Grip. Do you take any medication for it?

@Modern Daisy: it could totally be Devil's Grip... it is caused by inflammation of the cartilage around your heart. Mine is very much sparked by stress. Many doctors have been unable to diagnose me, but this one older doctor diagnosed me in one second when he first saw me and heard about my pain. Whenever I mention it to new doctors, they look at me like I have two heads. So I don't even mention it anymore.

@tina: My chest pains are sharp and painful and in different areas of my chest every time. They never affect my breathing and my doctor confirmed it's not a heart problem, its muscular/skeletal but jsut can't diagnose exactly what it is. My sister suffers from the same thing and she switched from coffee to tea and said they went away. I did the same, but I still get them. I think it's caused by stress somehow, but that's just a theory.

@Modern Daisy: What are your chest pains like? I would get stabbing pains on one side a few times a year that I'd mostly ignore, but once they were so severe I was having trouble breathing, and I ended up at the hospital for 2 days. They did EVERY test, including giving me blood thinner in case it was a blood clot in my lungs. Turns out I have something totally weird called Devil's Grip, or Bornholm Disease, or epidemic pleurodynia. (it's even been referred to as "The Grasp of the Phantom"... haha) It's caused by Coxsackie B virus and it just lives dormantly in you and flares up every now and then.

Other than that lovely Devil's Grip, I have horrible eyesight (-8 prescription) and Rob Sr. has severe astigmatism (cannot be corrected with contacts, so he has to wear glasses) so our kids are doomed.

I also have Oral Allergy Syndrome (allergic to most fresh fruits and veggies), which developed in my 20s. My dad has it too.

I get bronchitis every year. Lovely. None so far this year... I think RJ's daycare illnesses have really strengthened my immune system!

I got shingles last year. That SUCKS. Hurts worse than the Devil's Grip. If you've ever had the chicken pox, you can develop shingles at any time. Yuck.

Terrible eyesight! Was born with glaucoma, cataracts, and nearsightedness. Had surgery as a baby to relieve the glaucoma (I almost went blind!) and have worn glasses/contacts my whole life. Last year, I had cataracts surgery in both eyes, which helped a little but I still need glasses or contacts. Hoping LO doesn't get any of these issues!

Otherwise, quite healthy.

@yin: I got a retinal tear in one eye and then the next year, the other one. From what my eye doctor said, it happens as you age and your eye stretches. I had two of those laser surgeries. I never thought that I would dread getting my eyes dilated more than going to the dentist.

Pretty sure DH is developing Fibormyalgia just like his father badly suffers from. DH has all the signs of early onset of it, he is in pain a lot in the kneck area but will not go to medical about it yet. Not until he gets closer to retirement from the Military.

I have PVC (premature ventricular contractions), and I was diagnosed when pregnant with my LO. My heart doesn't always beat normally, and it can cause chest pains every now and then. No big deal right now but can worsen later.

I also had a retinal tear in my right eye a few years ago and had to have laser surgery to seal the tear. Luckily it was found before the tear could progress to detachment.

Diabetes and high blood pressure run in my family, and breast cancer runs in my DH's family. Hopefully these won't be passed on to my LO.

I have a couple of horrible and gross ones! I suffer from frequent chest pains. No doctor has been able to diagnose me other than 'it might be acid reflux' (which it isn't). I also have an anal fissure that acts up anytime I get constipated (sorry TMI). I remember they joked about that condition on an episode of The Office and I was like "Hey, it's not funny - I have that!"

I also used to suffer from severe acne until I got on accutane a few years ago. That drug is like a lifesaver!

Hubby and I are not healthy. At the beginning of our meal, we break out the pill boxes and and figure out what pills go with that meal. I get severe migraines and he has crohns. We're both having surgery soon though, him to reverse a colostomy because he's doing a lot better and me to help with the migraines. It's going to be an interesting next few months!

Our baby will also probably be stuck with glasses, and if she's like me bad teeth. I only lost two teeth on my own, got the rest along with some adult teeth pulled because my mouth is so small, and I had to have two sets of braces. Ugh.
