@JoyfulKiwi: I know but it'd be so much more fun to eat the yogurt while browsing through the store! I've heard great things about White Linen sauce and spaghetti is a staple in our house because my cooking "skills" are limited. And we could totally dedicate a guest room closet to store some things...my DH eats a granola bar almost every day as a snack and it'd be much cheaper for us to buy a huge box of them.

@JoyfulKiwi: AHHH I <3 <3 <3 White Linen marinara sauce. It is so so effing good. 100000% better than Prego or Ragu or whatnot. It's really restaurant quality, IMO.

@JoyfulKiwi: haha, I'm not sure? I've never heard of that brand before and I don't even know what kind of products it's for! Maybe a Canadian vs. American thing?

ETA: Pasta sauce. Ok, I am not sure it's available here! I think we get Newman's.

@.twist.: do you get the White Linen brand? It's amazing!

@lawbee11: Okay, the frozen yogurt alone is worth the membership - although you can buy anything at thefood cour without a membership! We also buy so many things at Costco! All the home goods listed and lots of non-perishable foods too. I just started getting contact solution there. We especially love when diapers/wipes are on sale (Huggies), the Lindsey natural black olives, White linen pasta sauce, GoGo Squeeze, Fig bars, and Kirkland Tortilla chips. We go once a month and stock up. We've dedicated part of the guest room closet to dry goods!

I LURVE me some Costco! Seriously, we buy so much there.

I love their photo holiday cards and birth announcements ($17.25 for 25 and they are cute and great quality). Ours also has a GREAT organic food section -- flax seed meal, berries (what we don't immediately eat we freeze for smoothies), eggs, milk, bread... They also have a ton of organic baby/kid food. But we haven't tried any of that since DS is only 2 months. They have great quality cheese too -- goat, Dutch Gouda, parmesean, manchego, etc.

Other household items we get there:
Toilet paper
Paper towels
Napkins
Ziplocks
Free & clear laundry detergent
Dishwasher detergent
Batteries
Bleach
Pete's coffee
Beer
Bully sticks for the dogs

We also bought a food saver thing there and now vacuum seal and freeze meat we buy there. They have good quality meat (including organic chicken and grassfed beef) so we buy it, eat some right away and freeze the rest (we have a separate freezer in the garage).

And I like their frozen yogurt at the food court :-)

@lawbee11: Haha! I am hesitant b/c just as much as I buy random crap I don't need at Target, I feel like I'd be like that at Costco too. I was def a kid in a candy store the few times I went to Costco!

With that said, w/ a baby on the way, it'd be nice to just make one trip and get everything that will lasts a while..

Household stuff: Toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher detergent, cleaning wipes, trash bags, and yes they are all pretty great deals! And ziplock baggies! Great deal and we have a lifetime supply pretty much!

We also exclusively buy diapers at costco (huggies), and some pantry staples are really good deals there too and they last forever since the amounts are huge (rice, oatmeal, peanut butter, honey, almonds, syrup).

@lawbee11: Yes, we do shop at the grocery store for some produce items. A lot of produce comes in MAJOR bulk at Costco (like a 5 or 10-pound bag of onions. Who can go through onions that quickly?) and we can't use it before it goes bad.

We also use the grocery store for lots of last-minute things, like "I am cooking dinner right now and we just ran out of taco seasoning...."

I also buy puffs, peanut butter (costco doesn't have the kind I like), coffee creamer, and cuts of steak/fish at the grocery store. The steak and fish at Costco is cheaper per pound, but the portions are too big and I don't like it as much after it's been frozen!

@lawbee11: We don't! But we have a second fridge/freezer in the garage. And we don't even have a pantry.... just one wider-than-average cupboard with tall shelves.

We just make it work because the money you save shopping at Costco (plus their incredible selection of organic stuff at great prices and all of their awesome kid/toddler food) is so worth it.

For example, we buy refried beans at Costco. It comes in an 8-pack, but we end up spending about .59 cents a can, versus 1.29 a can at the grocery store.

We buy paper towels, tissues, dishwash detergent, ziploc bags, juice boxes, school snacks, olive oil, trash bags, organic ground beef (really good price), chicken thighs, saline solution.. fruits and veggies (but a lot of times that stuff goes bad because we can't get through it all so I try to only buy stuff we will really eat all of). Lots of stuff!

I do impulse buy a lot though, since it is a bit of a trek for me as well... we also bought my DD's halloween costume there this year.

I don't have a CostCo membership as the coldest in about an hour away but my best friend had one closer to her and she is an addict. She bus pretty much everything non perishable there and does a lot of dry good shopping there. I would say it's worth it. I go to Sam's since it's closer to our house and wet usually but paper goods and some groceries there. Party shopping is awesome!

My list of items we DON'T buy at Costco is shorter!!

Lactaid (they only have 1% there, we drink skim)
Coffee Creamer (I like the skim flavored kind)
Bananas (I love all their other produce, but for some reason I have awful luck with their bananas)
Onions, Garlic, and Lemons/Limes (I can't use the Costco size fast enough before they go bad)
Huggies overnights

I think that's it! Everything else we buy at Costco!

@youboots: Gaterade! Yup! I get juice boxes, too!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: Yup! I could list out all the food I get there, too. Yogurt, snacks/chips, canned soups & veggies, olive oil, eggs, fruit (!).. both fresh and frozen for smoothies.

@HabesBabe: Oh, flea medication! It's so expensive if you get it anywhere else.

Oh, seasonal items like potting soil, grass seed, wheel barrel, garden hose, plants, garden gloves, life jackets, swimming googles, snow shovel, ice melt.

Oh, free shipping from Costco.com! I got my emergency food supply and my toucheless dual trashcan.

Oh, I did go through Costco's vehicle buying program to get a deal (no-hassle/haggling) for my CRV.

My Costco is only 15 minutes away so I'm always there.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: Ditto. Everything I can get at Costco, I do. I usually get Kirkland (their house brand) for most items, but have been disappointed in their Dove-like body soap and their dishwasher detergent.

We get hubby's socks, my underwear, his underwear, his undershirts, babies' clothes (they sell Carter's at a huge discount), string cheese, organic eggs, frozen waffles, Haagen Dazs ice cream bars, Fage yogurt, beef jerky, Green Machine juice, rotisserie chickens, ground turkey, beer (they sell craft beer at our Costcos now, too), tequila, dog treats, dog food, chips/snacks, TP, Arrowhead water, paper towels, doggy flea medication, Lubriderm lotion, prenatal vitamins, diet shakes... this is just off the top of my head.

We even got our living room furniture from Costco.
