@kentuckygirl: Hope you and your LO are doing well!

We transitioned to daycare about a month ago now and it's been going well. The toughest day was day one. But it's to be expected. I think the hardest part now has been dealing with the sickness. I don't think we've had a week yet where one of us isn't sick :(

But to focus on the positive, he's doing really well there! And he's happy, and napping well and sleeping well at night (except for when the sickness stuff wakes him up :( )

@kentuckygirl: Our transition went really well also. H didn't cry at all and they already had her crib labeled and everything. Honestly, it was harder on me, but seeing how much they loved her and how much she loves going there makes it easier to leave her. The teachers are also really open to working with her schedule and we discuss any changes that need to be made openly.

@kentuckygirl: It went great! I was a mess the days before she started, but the ladies were so wonderful. I'm able to go feed her on my lunch break, so that really helps. But she took bottles with no problem and napped really well.

Enjoy those last 5 weeks - you have plenty of time to prepare :-)

@BabyBoecksMom: Don't stress about the naps/self soothing too much.

I really, really was convinced I needed to have LO on a strict nap schedule, so I nap trained her (very successfully actually) and she was a beautiful napper--until she started daycare. I don't know if its her or the teachers, but she hardly sleeps there--like maybe 1 hour TOTAL a day whereas she used to sleep 1-2 hours each nap.

Sooo...pff. A lot of worry wasted.

Working on her taking a bottle is good, but again--she'll probably just adjust once she's at daycare. Or, she never will. I have two friends whose babies have never taken a bottle much and they both work full time--so they just drink very little during the day (from a bottle, sometimes an eyedropper or spoon) and make up for it in the mornings and at night.

We started giving DD a bottle at least a couple times per week when she was about 4 weeks old, to get her used to it. When the time to start daycare got closer, we just invested in some more bottles and stick-on name labels to go on her bottles, clothes, blankets, etc. I eventually got her an insulated lunchbox for carrying bottles and her other assorted stuff back and forth to daycare, but I didn't realize we needed that until a couple weeks in. DD wasn't a very good napper but I didn't work on naps because I figured it would be such a different environment at daycare, I didn't want to try to get her used to something new at home and then quickly flip the script on her. Otherwise, I just snuggled her a lot during our last couple weeks of mat leave :)

I only have about 4 weeks left before I go back to work. Since things have been so hectic with preparing to move, DD1 has no schedule and still doesn't take bottles regularly. Most of her naps are in the swing or on me.

The two things I'm trying to work on are getting her to self-soothe and get used to bottles.

What did you do to prepare?
