I got 90.00 100% "ethical" down comforters from target on sale for our twin beds- they are great. Ordered "vintage" wool blankets from Etsy for about 40.00/each.
I did splurge on sheets/duvet covers from hanna andersson but honestly when they are on sale they aren't that outrageous and it's great quality.

I bought sheets from the amazon essentials line for my daughter. They were $13 for each sheet set, and $20 for the comforter. I was blown away by how soft and nice they were, and the comforter is so warm. I might try them the next time I need new sheets for myself.

We have a twin spare bed and we bought some cheap bedding from Ikea. And my daughter is obsessed with it. It was 6.99 for the sheet set, $8.99 for the duvet cover and maybe $5 for the duvet?

I know this thread is super old, but for other PPS who may read...

We recently went to twin beds in our girls' room and I only do 100% cotton sheets (and they have to be soft) and cotton bedding. But I also don't like spending a lot of money on kid's stuff. So I searched and compared more expensive places like LOD to places like Target and watched sales and eventually I found the following. Our theme is aqua and coral.

-Target Pillowfort cotton coverlets in aqua during a bedding sale with a Cartwheel coupon. http://www.target.com/p/birds-scalloped-edge-quilt-pillowfort-153/-/A-50298055

-Macy's had a bedding sale and I got 2 different sheet sets here in different contrasting prints. One from the Martha Stewart Whim line, and one from the Charter Club line. All on clearance with a coupon and we paid $15 for each set. https://www.macys.com/shop/product/whim-by-martha-stewart-collection-novelty-print-sheet-sets-200-thread-count-100-cotton-percale-only-at-macys?ID=1747274&CategoryID=69658#fn=sp%3D1%26spc%3D81%26ruleId%3D78|BS|BA%26slotId%3D1

damask coral: https://www.macys.com/shop/product/charter-club-damask-designs-500-thread-count-printed-wrinkle-resistant-extra-deep-sheet-sets-only-at-macys?ID=2750393&CategoryID=7515&selectedSize=#fn=BED_AND_BATH_TYPE%3DSheets%26sp%3D1%26spc%3D19%26ruleId%3D78|BS|BA%26slotId%3D5

-Ikea cool-touch comforters, on sale for $30 each. Only for winter months. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40271513/

-4 different decorative pillow cases from Target to finish the look and tie together the different colors/prints. One in plain coral, and one like this: http://www.target.com/p/i-m-really-a-mermaid-pillowcase-standard-white-pillowfort-153/-/A-51575540

The overall look is super adorable and is reminiscent of these pictures, but with all-cotton sheets/blankets in different prints

LO #1 had an accident the other night, so I made sure to buy extra sheets. I just got some Target Pillowfort sheet sets for $17. I got those because they're cute and cheap. I almost got just flat sheets since LO #1 sleeps with a flat sheet and a blanket. One twin flat sheet was nearly the same price as the Pillowfort sheet set, so no brainer there. I figure that he can grow into using a sheet eventually. We don't have a comforter for him either. Just character fleece blankets and a quilt my mom made to be decorative.

@mediagirl: I got a PBK sheet set (twin) for DS on clearance for $28.99. The sheets are really cute so I just got a plain plush blanket in a solid coordinating color for on top and a plain second pillowcase. For a duvet cover I would spend probably up to $50-60. But my kids are sweaty and their sheets have to be 100% cotton so I'm a little pickier.

For sheets, we wait for a sale at Target; they seem to have a sheet sale at least once a month. I feel their organic sets are very reasonably priced and soft.

We have an adorable sheet from Land of Nod that doesn't get much use because it isn't as soft. Same with our cute PBK quilt. So I will give comfort a higher priority next time.

Until LO is potty trained reliably etc, I wouldn't spend much! Max $50 on a comforter and about the same on a complete sheet set. FWIW, I like the Royal Velvet brand that is available from JCP. For my $, they are the best feel and durability without being spends.

@mediagirl: adorable!!!!

Until w're out of the danger zone of it being peed on, I'm not putting that much money into it. If we move and she ends up with a new bed, I might invest in something a little nicer.

I went back and forth on this. I really wanted to splurge on a PBK set but couldn't! I'm thinking in a few years when we go a little more 'big boy' with his room I will.

I went to homegoods and bought decent twin sheets for $15 a set (beware the poly ones!) and I got a 100% cotton quilt for $30. Spent an additional $20? at Target on a nice warm blanket to go between the sheet and quilt. So, $80 total on two sets of sheets, blanket and a quilt.

I'm cheap: I bought decent sheets on sale at Target for $20 and then just got super cheap ones from Walmart as backups in case of accidents (rougher but I washed in baking soda, so they soften up quite a bit)

Comforter is from Target, I think I got it for $15 dollars? It's not super thick, she's warm-blooded so anything too heavy would make her sweat at night.

Probably $30 on sheets and $50-75 on a comforter. I think we spent $50-60 on C's set her has now, which included everything. We bought a mattress protector separately.

I tend to be cheap, I feel like things should be $10, until I feel the fabric. I also like a full set of things, coordinating quilt, shams, etc.

Sheet set: I like a high thread count cotton, I splurge here and will spend up to $30 for a twin set, including pillowcase.
Quilt/duvet cover: $75-100

eta: My son has a full sized bed, but I have three sets of sheets for him, one I got on Amazon and it's working great. I also have two sets from PBK bought on clearance.

Costco has sheet sets as well, the ones from my master are from there and so far, they're holding up nicely.

For a child? I spend more on adult bedding, but for kids' bedding that is likely to be exposed to a range of accidents involving bodily fluids (and heavier washing, and more frequent change of decor):

Sheet set: $20-$25
Duvet cover set (with pillowcase covers): $50
Extra Pillowcases: maybe $10? I haven't seen extra cases offered for most lower-cost linens so I'm not sure

I've been able to find cute, decent quality things in this range at Target.

(this lower price threshold comes after having a toddler vomit blueberries all over her adorable and expensive first bedding set, haha)

ETA: I'd spend more on a quilt or the duvet itself, but prefer duvet COVERS at this point since they're easier to wash

@mediagirl: It depends, do you expect it to last 2years or 5?

If its gonna last a long time I am ok spending more.

As far as sheets go I buy plain ones they will never outgrow (ivory color) and spend more on a nice quilt. We have full size beds and I think I got them on sale at Penneys for $35.

With that said I spent $99 on DS's and DD's quilt from PBK and PBT
