@avivoca: this sounds totally like my LO at around that age. We had a similar routine: bath, nurse, rock a bit and put down drowsy but awake. He would fall asleep easily and also went back to sleep easily after motn feedings. This didn't work anymore at around 6 months and I had to rock him fully to sleep. Then even that didn't work and I finally had to CIO at around 6.5 months because he would wake up every hour crying and I would end up rocking him for over an hour to only have to do it again an hour later.

I remember it used to drive me crazy trying to figure out what was wrong and how to "fix" it. And trying to do critical thinking with a heavily sleep deprived brain wasn't helping.

I'm sorry I can't give better advice. Sometimes its a matter of trial and error to figure out what works best for your LO. *hugs*

@NerdBee: I think she has with my husband. Normally, I'm the one who puts her to sleep, and we nurse at the beginning of our sleep routine for bedtime. We do PJ's, nurse, song, and rocking. At bedtime, I usually hold her for about 10-20 minutes and then put her down, but in the middle of the night I've never had to do that. It has gotten to the point that every time I lay her down (even laying down with her on my chest) she would wake up and scream.

I know they've done CIO at daycare because they simply can't rock each child to sleep. I never wanted to do that, but last night I did.

She did have an ear infection a couple of weeks ago. I wonder if it's coming back? She screamed bloody murder every time I tried to change her diaper, but she was also feverish then. She hasn't had a fever or any congestion this time.

@avivoca: *big hugs* for you. Has she ever put herself to sleep without nursing? I am wondering if she needs the nursing to get herself sleepy enough to fall asleep. But in any case, in your situation with no sleep and no help, I would just go into survival mode. You just need to do whatever it takes to get her to sleep and then slowly figure out what she needs. She is probably a little overtired from the lack of sleep in the past two weeks. Hang in there!

@NerdBee: Thanks! She used to be pretty decent at putting herself back to sleep at night, especially after nursing, but it has been so very rough.

@Alivoo01: I knew she was growing, but man!

@avivoca: oh gosh, I'm sorry you're having such a rough time *hugs*

I found this website to be helpful when I was dealing with sleep issues: http://www.troublesometots.com/what-you-need-to-know-about-sleeping-through-the-night-part-i/

At 7 months, your LO may have developed object permanence meaning that she remembers that you exist even when you aren't physically present. If she hasn't learned how to fall sleep on her own yet, then she will freak out when you try to put her down while she is still in the light sleep cycle and will need you to rock and soothe her until she falls back asleep again. It generally takes about 20 minutes for babies to get into deep sleep where you can put them down without waking them up. But once one sleep cycle is over (about 40 min) she will wake up and if she doesn't know how to put herself back to sleep then she will freak out again.

Sorry! I hope this was helpful.

I'm guessing teething and growth spurt. DS is the same way. Sorry you're going through this! *hugs*

I don't know what to do. For the past two weeks, LO has been a screaming, crying sleep mess. She sleeps on me as long as I am holding her, but as soon as I put her down, she starts screaming like a banshee. If I bring her to bed with me, she does the same time. Naps are shot. She's taking two 30 minute naps.

Is it teeth? A regression? She's seven months with two teeth.

I'm listening to her scream right now. I hate it. But I only got three hours of sleep last night, and I can't go on like that. DH is out of town and I have no one to help me at night.
