@Applesandbananas: I would just have them take him right after nap to the potty. It needs to just be part of the routine. Sounds like he has lost all interest. I would be careful about over prompting him. Too much and he is going to regress fully.
If he is staying dry during nap time, then just tell day care no diaper.

I agree with others about prompting. It sounds like he knows what he's supposed to do, but isn't getting there quickly enough. It can be annoying, but I would prompt him every 20 minutes or so. Anytime my son had an accident after he was initially trained, it was ALWAYS because he waited until the last second. I mean, he's 4.5 and I still ask him like 3 times a day if he has to go. Accidents are very rare these days, but he still does the pee pee dance from time to time and doesn't just go to the toilet, so I remind him.

@Smurfette: he had one pee and one poop accident today. It looks like it's happening after nap, they don't take him/prompt him between nap and the playground. I've sent slip-on diapers for nap since they're so uncomfortable with no diaper at nap. Maybe the diaper is throwing him off? But he's having issues at home too, most of which are either in the morning on the weekend. Maybe it's the nighttime diaper at home/nap time diaper at school that's confusing, in addition to him just not being super excited about it anymore?

@Applesandbananas: is he having accidents at school? I don't think that isn't a lot.

Ugh this is frustrating! He was doing so well!

He did pretty well this weekend, when we made him go, but had no interest in self-initiating. It's like he's just over it...

I've noticed that his daycare sheet only has him going 4-5x a day, he's there 9 hours, so that doesn't seem like enough. :(

He just self-initiated and peed 3 times in 30 minutes. I don't think he's had a ton of fluids in the time we've been home. His last drink at daycare was water at snack at 2:30 and then he had less than half of a cup of milk (maybe 3oz?) at dinner and an ice pop for dessert, which isn't out of the ordinary. But 3x in 30 minutes is excessive for him. He was going every 1.5 hours.

Could it be a UTI? That's really the only symptom. He felt a little warm this weekend but not enough so that I actually busted out the thermometer.

We had to prompt for awhile. We are just now getting to the point where he will go on his own (about 4 months after we got serious about potty training) and he is 3.5.

Sounds like he might not be ready to go without regular prompting. Potty training is so tough.
Hang in there.

We did OCPT and things were going GREAT! He was telling us when he needed to go, holding it until he got to the potty, etc. and there were no accidents. I was so thrilled!

Saturday, he had several pee accidents (though he'd had a ton of water in his new cup from Chuck E Cheese--he was ecstatic about the swirly straw) and Sunday he had a poop accident, but he'd told us he needed to go and we just didn't get him there in time. He told us like ten seconds before he pooped, if that.

Monday he had a pee accident at school and then, at home he told us he needed to go but peed in front of the potty, before I could pull his pants down.

Tuesday another pee accident at daycare and a similar pee accident (in front of the potty before I could pull his pants down--which he's fully capable of doing!)

Today a pee accident at school and a poop accident at home, where he told us but we could get to the potty in time.

He seems to WANT to use the potty, but it's like his gauge of when he needs to go is off-kilter and he's not going until he can't wait any more.

We used threats in our initial training (taking away Elmo) and those were effective then, but haven't been effective now.

Admittedly, we haven't been watching him for signs as closely or reminding him, because he'd been self-initiating so well. Maybe we need to go back to watching closely. Maybe the tons of water incident Saturday morning threw his gauge off track. Maybe he has a UTI? I have no idea.

Any advice, commiseration, or wine would be appreciated :)
