@Mrs Spoon: Yes, it is an insurance-issued PISA! I just ordered new tubing, just in case there is a leak that I can't feel. I can't really afford to buy a new pump right now, so that's not an option, unfortunately.

Things seem to be getting better, so I'm thinking it had to be pms or ovulation. Leaning more towards it being a me issue rather than a pump issue.

Do you by chance have an insurance issued PISA? This exact situation happened to me last week and it's my pump. I ordered a new spectra and rented a hospital grade pump until that arrives. No issue with letdown now and building my supply back up after a couple days of bad pumping. Can you rent or borrow a pump to see if your pump is the problem?

@Dahlia:  Entirely possible.

@PawPrints: I would love to listen to music and have a relaxing pumping session, but my 3yo insists on sitting with me and he just basically has a running monologue the entire time I'm pumping. Peaceful meditation is just not going to happen!

Did a little bit better this morning - let down took 5 or 6 minutes, and I got a full 6oz like normal.

@littlebug: Could letdown be slow because you're feeling anxious about supply?

I used a tincture called Rescue Remedy to help with anxiety, and as a bonus my letdown was faster. Maybe worth a shot?

Just checking in to say pregnancy test was negative. Going to retest in a few days, but feeling pretty reassured it's not that.

@mrsrain: I have started a new medication, but according to LactMed it would possibly cause increase in production, not decrease, so pretty sure that's not it.

@birdofafeather: Agree, the slow letdown is really what's throwing me, here. She's nursing fine, and I let down like normal when she nurses. I also am letting down like normal when I double pump at work. The issue is mostly my one-side pump in the am and at night. I'm going to try double pumping and see if that makes a difference.

When I got my period back for the first time I had a crazy drop in supply and I was sure I had thrush because I was in so much pain. Turns out it was ovulation and I was getting my period back.

i didn't get my period back until R was almost 1, so i didn't really notice a dip in supply, but with S, i have had my period twice now (she's 10 months) and definitely had a big dip in supply! she was STTN and then suddenly waking overnight every night starving! so maybe you're getting your period soon? but definitely see if you can check out another pump too because let down shouldn't take that long! i mean, output less maybe, but not unable to get anything!

how's she been nursing? seems normal or discontent with output?

Possibly pregnant, or possibly pms? Both can affect supply. I'd take a test to be certain, and then if you aren't pregnant you might consider some supplement (or tea) to help increase your supply.
Other things to consider: have you recently lost weight or changed your diet or exercise? Are you on any medications?

Oh I recommend joining the Facebook group Fancy Pumpers, they give stellar advice on flange sizing and everything to do with pumping troubleshooting.

When I had trouble with delayed let down, focused relaxation and meditation exercises helped me - the same ones I used to get through labor. And for me it was very much tied up in my PPD/PPA which flared up simultaneously. Anything you can do to simulate an oxytocin release- listen to music, eat cookies or chocolate etc could help. Good luck, you have my sympathy because it was so frustrating for me. I hope it's just a pump problem.

@avivoca: @nana87: @catomd00: I've checked the tubing and that seems ok and replaced the membranes, even though they all looked fine. I still think the pump seems to have suddenly lost some power, and I'm not sure why, since it was working just fine a week ago.

I'm going to try going down a size in flange. And drinking water like it's my job - I've not been staying hydrated as well as I usually do. And also picking up a pregnancy test. I really don't think I'm pregnant, but I suppose anything is possible...

My supply is definitely affected by my cycle. It decreases dramatically and I also experience increased soreness and sensitivity. It resolves within 2-3 days usually.

When I was pregnant with DD3 my nipples were on fire while nursing DD2 and my supply tanked, I blamed it on teething but it was definitely pregnancy.

A is 7 months old and EBF. Up until a week ago, I had a great supply and was able to pump enough throughout the day at work to cover her bottle needs at daycare and add to my frozen stash. All of a sudden, last week, my supply tanked. I can't even cover her bottle needs. It's taking me 30+ minutes of pumping (at night and in the am) just to let down. I was away with my husband last weekend, and though I couldn't pump regularly, I still managed to pump at least 4x a day and want having this problem with let-down taking so long. But at this moment I'm attached to my pump, been here for 30 minutes, and no let down. The pump is turned way up.

My nipples are suddenly super sensitive, as though I'm nursing a newborn again. I don't know if that's to do with all the pumping or if there's something else going on. I haven't gotten my period yet PP. Just last night I started feeling cramps like maybe my period is coming. But last time I don't remember any of this happening when my period came back PP.

Anyone have any thoughts? Any tips to help simulate let down faster? I've tried looking at photos of A, watching videos of her nursing, watching her on the monitor...nothing works! I'm frustrated and sore. Not to mention I don't have time on weekday mornings to sit here attached to the pump for 30+ minutes!
