My older son went through a phase where he did this. He would be up for hours in the middle of the night. I would take him for a drive to get him to sleep. Eventually, he stopped doing this. I couldn't tell if it was tied to a developmental milestone or not.

My lo goes through periods where this happens, usually before he hits a milestone. I wouldn't worry unless it becomes a pattern. Hope you got some extra sleep momma!

This has been us the past few nights too :( but my lo is younger, so it's different. I think teething and babbling are causing it for us, but like kemma said I think it could be a language development or something. Could it have anything to do with adjustment to her new bro? Hope it was a fluke for you!!

@Kemma: I was stuck on offering her anything/doing anything as I didn't want to encourage the behaviour. Wanted her to feel loved incase it was a bad dream, not even sure they dream yet! Offered her some water at one point, she took a sip but that was it.

I last saw the clock 2:51am, started 12:16am. Bleh!

@Beebug: Can you get her up for something to eat or to run around for a wee bit? Maybe she just needs to blow off a bit of steam before her mind while switch off enough for her to sleep. I was also thinking it could be developmental, like vocabulary / language related?

@oscarthegoon: you know I usually would do it too, but nothing about this seems teething for us, and she is really recognizing lately what Tylenol is, so I don't want her to think can't sleep = Tylenol, so I have held off.

My usually awesome sleep girl has been up the last two hours.

She's not tired, when she tries to lay down she is unsettled and you can tell something is bugging her.

Not bugging her like teeth, but mentally.

We had a normal day, with normal bedtime, no fever/sickness, she hasn't left my eye in weeks, she has never done anything like this in her life.

I snuggled wth her in her room, had her in my bed, she can't settle for the life of her. Selfishly I would love to sleep (have her 21m and DS 2m) so rest is precious, but I'm more concerned right now for her and why she is so wide awake, poor girl.

Has anyone had this happen?
