I read in a couple of places that loud continuous noise like that is better than sounds like waves or rain forest. Whether it's true or not I don't know. </p> <p>But some white noise is absolutely essential since we live in the city. Before that it was "the sea" complete with seagulls and a ship's fog horn. </p>
