Paint and professional carpet cleaning. At our last apartment, we had to pay for the carpets ourselves when we moved out, but they were clean when we moved in.

Yes to paint and carpet cleaning. If you feel strongly about the pressure washing, see if your landlord is interesting in buying a pressure washer for you to use - they don't cost much more than renting one at Home Depot and its cheaper than hiring someone. Plus, then he'll have one to use in the future. You can even offer to pressure wash the unit every 6 months as a sweetener.

My city has ordinance that landlords clean carpet and paint. That's about it sadly.

Paint and professional carpet cleaning. I'd ask for a pressure wash and see what they say..

I don't find it unreasonable to ask for carpet cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. We did both of those things before putting our home up for rent.

Pressure washing...I'd check and see if they do it once a year (Spring and Fall) and it's just coming up on that time. In our neighborhood, the HOA enforces we pressur wash if things start looking rough on the outside.

Repainting and new or freshly cleaned carpets are the norm around here. I dont think asking them to pressure wash the outside of the house is part of the normal renter maintenance.

I think paint and carpet cleaning is reasonable. I don't think I would ask to pressure wash. I think a professional cleaning would be nice, but I'm not sure if they would provide that.

In between each renter we paint and wash carpets. I don't think I would ask them to pressure wash the outside. If they don't clean the carpets or repainttake pictures when you move in so you have proof of what it was like when you moved in.

DH & I are going to be renting a house in our new city. We really like the neighborhood and the house in general but it is a little worse for wear. The walls really need a fresh coat of paint and the carpets need cleaned. DH actually really thinks the exterior needs to be pressure washed.

What is reasonable to ask? We are actually renting out the house that we own and we aren't doing much - but it is also in good shape.
