My parents wanted to buy it for us and I insisted we do Craigslist because of the $$ - they're everywhere on Craigslist and the house we bought from looked super clean. </p> <p>I prefer nursing on our couch recliner (I don't like the reclined position on the glider for nursing at all). For soothing LO preferred bouncing or walking to rocking as a newborn. DH loves the glider as do my parents. I nursed in my bed or on the couch. However, we lived in a small space then. We do have a chair in DS's room right now but I don't know that a glider is necessary.</p> <p>However, yes, a yoga ball is key. I ended up pumping exclusively so at first I was kind of bummed we bought a glider but I used it to feed her bottles and we now use it every night for bedtime stories. It's the most comfy spot for nursing, and I've ended up sleeping in it for at least part of pretty much every night so far (DD is one month). I guess if we didn't have that option, we'd have figured something else out, but so far it's been a lifesaver. We got ours from Best Chairs and it's sized a bit smaller than a traditional recliner because it's meant for nursery use. It's not very stylish but has served it's purpose well, I have sat in it with my LO's multiple times a day (and night!) for over 3 years now. It was comfy spot in his room that was quiet and away from the noise from the rest of the house so he could settle down easier. We survived without a glider in the nursery, but we had a wooden rocking chair, a recliner in the living room that rocked, a bouncy yoga ball (LO still loves to be bounced), and a baby swing. But she doesn't need it at all now...I just like it because now I exclusively pump and it's a comfortable place for me to do that (we only have a low couch that is not comfortable AT ALL for pumping since you have to lean back so much).</p> <p>I know some people use it for a long time, but one of the very few sleep-related things we did "right" was offer the least amount of motion possible to get her to sleep. So no aggressive bouncing or rocking or swaying or anything. Just the light gliding in the chair the first couple of months, then just holding and no rocking, and now nothing--just laying her in the crib. </p>
