To freeze a spoon and push it to break through his gums when he had a tooth coming in. Oh grandma!

The dark beer thing worked for me actually, better than mother's milk tea!

"Make sure you move the baby into a new position every few hour so her body doesn't get deformed"... huh???

Haha oh no!

This isn't really a piece of advice but once I was at DH's grand parents house and DD was getting warm, I told DH we needed to get her home because she felt like she had a fever. His grand parents kept saying, "Nah, she'll be fine. That's just teething." I knew better.

My grandmother tried to give LO baked beans when she was 4 months old. She insists that babies need cereal from birth as well. A family friend offered punch to LO at 4 months as well... I just about had a heart attack and intervened.

I know they say the beer thing doesn't work, but I'm definitely more engorged in the mornings after having a beer the evening before.

I love my DH's grandmother. She is 96 years old and is smart and spunky as anything. What drives me crazy but makes me laugh too is some of her parenting advice. Here are some good ones:
- drinking beer will make your milk come in better
- don't swaddle the baby she needs to be able to move
- you are doing a good job keeping her ears flat (apparently when the ears fold down when holding the baby that makes the ears stick out?)
- (and last night...) you need to be giving that baby water!! She's thirsty! (No she is BF)

Any crazy parenting advice from older generations?
