I'm not really sure if it's funny at the time but when I thought about it afterwards I thought it was pretty funny. It was with my first son and the first time I had to go "clean" myself down there sitting on the toilet with the catheter still in me and all of my IVs. I saw the nurse filling some bottle and then all of a sudden she started to spray me down there. I was like..."whoa.... what the heck is going on?!" And she was the only nurse who did that for me. I actually thought it was really nice of her to do that b/c all the other nurses just filled the bottle and handed it to me.

When we were getting ready to leave the hospital my husband looked and me and said, "do you have any idea how many people's hands have been in your vagina in the past 36 hours? 8! 8 people." I laughed so hard, I could not believe he had counted. Poor man, I think he was traumatized by that more than LO's birth!

@mandb36: I passed out too! I had never passed out before... so weird. Laying/sitting I had no problems, but as soon as I would stand up I was out, at least the first night. The next day I could vveeerrrryyy slowly get up and make my way to the bathroom before totally blacking out. I guess that's what losing too much blood will do to you. It's especially weird to share all of your postpartum glory with a stranger though :)

@c.sassy: I had to call the nurse every time I wanted to get up through the first night because I did pass out the first time I got up. DH and my MIL thought it was scary but I just accepted that it was going to happen. I just did not expect to see what I saw when I went to the bathroom the first time. So it was kind of funny to me, not so much to everyone else.

The hospital's food service people called up every morning to ask what I wanted for breakfast, and every time I was so caught off guard I had to ask to call them back. They were annoyed! lol!

I also had to have a blood transfusion and was a "fall risk" until the morning we were discharged. At our hospital that means no getting out of bed unless there is a nurse with you. So, I had a nurse with me every. single. time. I went to the bathroom. We got to know each other really well :)

The last day I was asked if a nursing student could assist in our care. I said sure. I met him and he was very nice. DH and my MIL had gone to get me breakfast at this time. The student had to take LO to the nursery for her last check up at the hospital. He was wearing different scrubs since he was still in school.

DH came back in with breakfast and looked around the room frantically then asked where LO was. I told him and he calmed down. He had seen the student pushing her bassinet and immediately thought someone was stealing her. He had hurried back to see if it really was her and to make sure it was authorized. I'm not sure how lenient he thought I was being with who took the baby.

Our night nurse our first night was terrible. At the time it wasn't funny but looking back now, we laugh about it. that night she wanted to test LO's blood sugar bc she claimed he was lethargic. She goes to heel prick him and then looks at her thumb and says, "oops wrong way" she had pricked her own thumb. What a dummy!

The bed I was in was brand new and neither the doctor nor the nurse knew how to properly adjust it for delivery. As the Dr. was putting on her delivery gear and LO was basically coming out, the bed started rolling across the room. It was way too hilarious. The laughing helped me stop pushing enough for everyone to get ready to catch LO :)

The look on my DH's face when he saw the anesthesiologist. He knew I thought he was hot, and boy was he ever ;) Also, when the student Dr. was doing my cervix check: "I feel a head"! Nurse does a check: "That's her pubic bone" haha funny....needless to say, glad he's not a real Dr. yet...

The OB who did my cervical check before I started cervidil picked up my Allure magazine (with Rooney Mara on the cover) with his free hand and asked me who the cute girl was. It was so awkward but DH and I laughed about it when he left the room!
