Only I worked in my college's fundraising office and called alumni and donors. It ranged from awful (people yelling at you because the alumni died) to awesome (rich people asking you to go ahead and give your pitch, telling you you did a great job, and donating thousands of dollars!). The owners ran a blue heeler rescue organization (this was in Oklahoma where there are a lot of blue and red heelers in need). It was an OK job but what was really funny was when they started giving me the key to open up on the weekends. I thought I had made the big time but then I realized once I opened up that it meant I had to clean up all any dog poo and pee in the kennel (they had taken in a stray puppy named Sammy who had a bigtime incontinence problem) and get all the dogs outside and relieved while managing incoming grooming clients. I also spent a summer as a working student at a horse training facility. I traded labour (cleaning stalls, feeding, training young horses) for coaching from a very talented rider on my own horse.
