I couldn't take it anymore and needed the space for my mental health. We also didn't talk for a couple of months after I told her I was pregnant because her response (before hanging up the phone abruptly) was, "Oh." Usually I just don't call her for a few days because I am upset about something she said. She is a pretty clingy and bossy grandma. I have a hard time standing up to her. We are both people pleasers anyway so tend to skirt around or avoid topics that I know would be issues. We don't talk every day anyway though, so sometimes when we are busy we can go a couple of weeks without talking. The worst was when I moved in with DH, then my boyfriend. I was afraid of telling my parents because I knew they would disapprove, but then I was mad at them for being disapproving of my adult decision, so I didn't feel like talking to them and hiding things (even though I never gave them the chance to be normal anyway). She even threatened not to come to my wedding (so we went to Vegas! HA!) I haven't talked to her in a couple weeks, the drama just isn't worth it. Wish I had a more normal relationship with her!! We've gone a couple weeks without speaking only when traveling. My grandmother on the other hand has not spoken to me in 21 months after a disagreement. Ouch! I refused to speak to her from from the end of June until after my birthday in the beginning of August, so around 6 weeks. It was awful, and she missed a big portion of my pregnancy which is even more depressing.
