We took C when she was 3 months old, and H when he was 2 months old. However, we are lucky because:

a) We get in for free (me & the hubs, too, not just the kids) because I used to work there and still know people who sign us in
b) We live 10 mins away so we can stop at home for C's nap

If we didn't have those perks, I wouldn't take them until they were almost 3 and almost 5. That way, one kid would still be free and they would be old enough to enjoy it. C is 2 now and is terrified of the furry characters, but likes the face characters (princesses).

We're thinking about taking D in the Spring...he'll be 2 in January. We just took him to HersheyPark this past weekend and he LOVED it. So I think he'll really like Disney. He'll be free, and we'll be staying at my parents' house in The Villages, so that's free, too. If we had to pay for him and a place to stay, we'd wait until he's old enough to really appreciate and remember it, like at 5 or 6.

We took my DD to WDW when she was 7 months. We have so many adorable pictures from that trip, she wasn't afraid of the characters at all. It seemed kind of silly to take a 7 month old but she loves looking at the pictures now and we had a great time. We went to Disneyland last summer she was 4 and she still talks about going back.

My minimum is when DS can recognize the characters and not be scared of them. I'm assuming that age will be around 3? My parents have a winter home in FL not too far away from Disney and we go there every winter, plus DH is a huge Disney and theme park fan.

When I was little my parents took us for the first time when I was 7 and my brother was 2. He spent most of it in the stroller and sleeping.

@looch: agree. :happy:
I think you just need to set some realistic goals if you take a younger child. I know that we were ambitious and our next trip we will be realistic.

We are a huge disney family and go every year but I don't have a little one yet so take what I say with a grain of salt. Our first trip will probably be around LO's first birthday and we will probably go every year for at least a few days.

I think at 2.5 your LO would have a blast, BIL and his wife took their boys at almost 2 and 1 and the oldest remembers bits and pieces and talks about it still two years later.

4 if this was our main annual vacation.

However, given we live just 3 hours away from DW, and have gone to DW or Universal Studios for a long weekend, our LO may be younger.

We went a couple weeks ago and she was 6 months. We rode a couple of rides but pirates and snow white scared her. It was more fun dressing her up as a princess everyday :) Oh and she got to eat at blue bayou which she loved, got a giant sucker which she loved even more. I really think she enjoyed hetself!

Tip though, for those saying they'll take them when they don't need naps anymore? Yeah, they might still need a nap. At the very least, take a break in the middle of the day to go back to the hotel so they can rest, swim, nap if they're tired, etc. Otherwise you're bound to end up with a child having a total meltdown and no one having any fun, especially in the hotter parts of the year!

We regularly take family vacations, but neither my husband or I are big Disney people. That said, my mom is already talking about a Disney vacation and I sure the kids would love it. My vote is that when our youngest is at least 4, we would consider it!

We took LO in May a few weeks before her 2nd bday. We just really wanted a vacation and figured Disney would keep her happy and all of us entertained. We drove down from NH which was an adventure in itself lol. She did wonderful and there were some moments that me and her dad will cherish forever, but I do think she was a little to young to truly enjoy it. We plan on going back when she's around 6. I will say I think if we went next May when she will be 3, she would be way more into it than last year. Just in the past month she sings all the disney songs and pretends to be a princess. Every time we see that castle at the beginning of a disney movie she says, "Mama, Lala, Dada, remember?!" So she does have the memory of the fireworks at Magic Kingdom.

We recently took her to a theme park in Korea and she had a great time (she's 2.5). She just barely met the height requirements for the youngest rides, so there weren't too many we could go on, but she loved the rides we did go on. Initially, I wanted to take her to Disney around age 3, but now I'm re-thinking and we will likely go when she is 4. She was terrified of all the costumed characters so I can imagine she would flip out if she saw all the Disney characters. I also want to wait until she's taller so she can go on more rides.
