Back then you had to use the arrow keys to hunt (no mouse) and you could only hunt in certain directions so it was hard to get the fast animals. You had your caravan, and would have to hunt and trade and fish and what not to survive the trip. Usually people died of dysteria or winter starvation or other sickness before you made it to the end. It was probably the only/first computer game they sold as educational to the elementary schools. That was the only thing on the computer at school. So it was a huge privilege to play.
