Glad you at least have a reason for the craziness. She just really wants to keep you on your toes! I was an early teether too and am concerned for C.

@Cherrybee: Just FYI I would probably stick with tylenol or teething tablets. The teething gel can get into their throats and affect breathing!

@cascademom: We dealt with colic for the first 6 weeks of her life!! And now teething at 12 weeks! I swear this kid is trying to finish us off!

@Cherrybee: I was also going to suggest colic since it usually presents itself around 12 weeks or so. Baby Tylenol works wonders especially with teething. Lately, LO has been cutting two molars and another tooth. I've been giving him teething tabs almost every night before bed to cut the pain a bit.

@loveisstrange: Another weird C-E should-be-twins thing!!

Okay, so update: I had another look in her mouth and she has a red lump on her bottom gum. Ahh, the relief! She ate most of her bottle (that Calpol is amazing!) and has gone to sleep. DH has nipped out for teething gel for when she, inevitably, wakes up screaming.

@MsLipGloss: Yeah, plenty of wet ones.

@Mrsbells: She is 3 months. Apparently, MIL has just told us, DH was an early teether too. He has a lot to answer for, that man! lol.

@Cherrybee: How old is you baby? I would call the doctor and see what they say. Did you give her any of the paracetamol today? I always had better luck with an ibuprofen based fever reducer rather than paracetamol (acetaminophen)

I would definitely take her to the doctor to get her checked. She very well could be teething though. C was at that age and had her bottom teeth by 4 months. It was brutal. They just came out of nowhere.

@lovehoneybee: We gave her some more Calpol about 30 minutes ago and her temp is now normal, she is calm and she is giving daddy some little, guarded smiles.

Yeah, I will take her to the doctor tomorrow just to rule out ear infection.

@Ms.SK: The trouble with my baby is nothing makes her happy at the best of times!! She doesn't like being held when she is tired/fussy - I think she gets too hot and bothered. She loathes the swing, she doesn't enjoy eating particularly. What a dreadful state of affairs!!!

You are doing an amazing job! Sometimes babies just cry and as much as it stresses us out; sometimes it just happens. It was times like this that I did whatever made them not cry...if they wanted to be held I held them, if they wanted to nurse, we nursed if they wanted to swing, they swang. When you know you have done everything you can think of take a moment and remember this time because you are showing yourself what a great mommy you are (you just may not have time to realize it).

Make an appointment for tomorrow if she's already so close to bedtime. I could be nothing, or it could be something (maybe teething or an ear infection). In any event, you'll feel better after seeing a doctor.

Could she be gassy?

My daughter was never that fussy when teething as an infant so hard to say. But she did have four teeth by 4.5 months so it's entirely possible your LO is teething.

Honestly, she sounds like my E before he started "actively" teething. We'd have horrible days like this, and then some normal days, for almost a month before he started showing the more physical signs of teething (the drool was a big giveaway for us, but also flushed cheeks, low-low-grade fever and yanking on his ears).

How's her temperature now? I think if she's not running a real fever and is not lethargic you should be okay to let her sleep. If she's still acting like this tomorrow I'd call the doctor.

@cmomma17: I could call the out of hours service. They always make you trek into the City Centre to see the out of hours doctor though. I'd rather not drag her out unless it's necessary (it's bed time in 1 hour) if I can help it as she really, really needs to sleep.....

Okay, so my baby has been crying/fussing for 12 hours straight, today, with a few breaks when she fell asleep exhausted.

In short, she was a bit grumpy and had a moderate temperature (37) last night. We gave her some Calpol (infant paracetamol medicine) and put her to bed. She woke at 3am SCREAMING and screamed for an hour. Then she fell asleep until almost 7am. The rest of the day, she has been whining, whimpering, crying......

She hasn't really eaten much today because every time I put the bottle into her mouth she goes postal. It's as if she might be teething, as if her gums hurt (she does have a lot of drool) - but her gums are not red and I can't see any white lumps. She did freak out when I popped my finger in there, though....

..... however, her food refusal could also be caused by a tummy ache, right? Maybe she has a tummy ache? But she hasn't had any sickness or diarrhea.

She doesn't have any cold/flu symptoms, either. Despite how little she has eaten, she has had plenty of wet nappies. She only usually poops every other day so it is not unusual that she hasn't pooped today.

When do I need to worry? When do I need to take her to the doctor? Her temperature is only a little over normal right now (but she is whining).

What could it be? Does it sound like teething??

She is three months old.
