Oh crap, thanks for giving me a glimpse to my future.

For us it is the late afternoon tantrums that come out of nowhere. He was all good one minute, and the next minute it was blown out of proportion kind of tantrum and the breathless crying spells. It happens more and more often lately. There is no reason for it. It requires a lot of time outs, talk, calm down time (in general, a huge waste of time for maybe 30 minutes) to turn the ship around. And there is no guarantee the ship will turn around.

LO just turned 3 years old.

@chopsuey: The 4's (and months leading into it) has been the best!!

DD - Not much right now. The 4's have been fantastic, and I'm loving so much about this stage!

DS - He wants to be independent, but at the same time he still needs a lot of help with things... and he is still working on his verbal skills, which leads to lots of misunderstandings and tantrums!

My 9 month old is not yet crawling, but she gets around pretty well in spite of that. As a result, our two biggest challenges:

1) Getting into things she shouldn't
2) EATING random FUZZ/CRUMBS/HAIR/etc on the floor!

We are getting ready to move, so it's almost impossible to keep the floors completely free from crud. I actually pulled out the PnP so that there is a safe place to put her down occasionally.

DD - 4 next month and no parenting challenges. I'm loving this age.

DS - 2. Getting him to listen (he does what he wants!) and getting him to STTN. He used to be the best sleeper of all time. Then he figured out how to climb out of his pnp and sleep has been crappy unless I cosleep. :P

2.5 years old. I would say the biggest challenge is mornings and dawdling. Keeping him focused on the task on hand is the hardest. I do "high fives" as a mini reward for getting dressed and out of bed to fight morning tantrums. We can get through tantrums pretty well with a little work

Getting dressed for the day almost always leads to a battle. We are on a tight morning schedule to get out the door by 6:50am and it's so hard to get him dressed and bundled up in time. I can't really blame him.

Our challenge right now is just staying sane while we are all sick (whole family has flu) and stuck inside during this terrible winter. My 16 month old is super active and really needs to be able to run around, but there is just no place to do it in our tiny house and it has been too cold to play outside for months now. Lots of whining and mild tantrums, but I know how she feels so I can't really blame her.

@Mae: my LO is similar...because it's mostly her and I eating together, if DH comes to sit with us at lunch time she used to get really distracted and not eat. It's getting better now...but we have this weird issue where if there's something different on the table or if DH and I are drinking wine or there's something she can't have, she won't eat. We're working on it. Last night I ended up taking her out of her high chair and sitting her on my lap, giving her a breadstick (not part of her original meal) and then tried to feed her the rest of her food and she ate it all. After a few minutes she was eating in her chair, no problem.

9mo and I feel like things are pretty good right now. Especially compared to a few months ago. I guess if I had a complaint it was that LO still will only eat in completely distraction free zones. No movement, no people, no sound. I thought we were getting over that and I tried to feed her at my grandma's house this week (even took her into a walk in closet in the bedroom so it would be quiet) but she heard my grandma talking 2 doors away and refuses to eat after that. Soooo that just makes it hard because we can't ever feed her anywhere but home pretty much.

17 months and there's not too many issues right now. Food is an ongoing battle but it's gotten better recently. Tantrums/defiance is still relatively easy to control.

2 1/2 and we have two big challenges

1) sleeping. She does not stay in her bed, she's been running into our room by like midnight, it used to be closer to 3-5. She crawls in and hogs the bed, DH always moves to the couch.

2) Listening. She ignores us or yells 'no' when we tell her to stop. She doesn't stay in timeout, we've resorted to taking toys away and no screen time which is working for now but she still continues to do the same thing we tell her over and over not to do.

Cultivating patience! I can't expect my two-year-old to snap to it the second I ask him to do something. He's a decent listener but a major dawdler. If I tell him it's time to go upstairs he'll make his way in that direction but it seems like we don't actually get upstairs for another 20 minutes.

Uhh, just finding time to play with her, take care of myself, get all my regular housekeeping done and try to prep for baby #2 in 9 weeks. She's 17 months and is in a sweet spot right now but I'm struggling right now and am actually currently crying just thinking of it because I don't feel ready And I don't see where all this time is going to come from.

DS is 2.5 and I think the testing boundaries is the hardest for us right now. He will do something, get in trouble, then go back and do the exact same thing two seconds later. It's especially irritating when he does things to our dog, despite her growling and us removing each of them from the room. Maddening!

DD is 4 months and for sure the poor sleep habits (cat naps and waking every 2-4 hours at night) are the most difficult part right now. Otherwise, she is a doll.

Just went through a brutal sleep regression at 2 y old waking up every 1-2 hours lasting 6 weeks. Now that thats over she decided to get constipation. :(. Behaviorally tho no major issues besides the usual toddler behavior.

And how old is your LO?

Charlie is 5 and our biggest challenge is the not listening. We have to ask him to do everything over and over again every single day. I thought whining was bad in the 3's... nope not listening is way worse!

Right now Olive is pretty easy going. She has trouble listening too, but it's not that bad... yet!

We have challenges with eating with both kids (happy to skip meals regularly), and that's always ongoing.

What about you?
