No theme, it's a mish mash of all kinds of ornaments, a themed tree seems really expensive to me. I do collect a few kinds though (Bearfoots carved bears & marshmallow snowmen). I do have 3 small pre-lit trees that have themes I didn't mean too! 1 is beanie baby ornaments, a western themed tree and a marshmallow tree. Again they're tiny trees! Our big one is loaded with every kind of ornament imaginable, even a can of worms!

I love themed trees and have been doing them every year. The first year I did a white christmas theme and had white lights, a snow-like garland and all white and silver ornaments. I had a snowflake topper and white/silver tree skirt as well. I did that for a few years, then last year we did a matte red and green tree with red and green plaid ribbon bows (including a large one with cascading ribbons for the topper), red and green tulle garland, and a matching tree skirt and stockings as well. This year I conceded to the fact that the tree should be fun and colorful rather than pretty (called it a kiddy tree instead of a pretty tree) so it's colored lights and a very random assortment from my different themed trees.

We also buy a new ornament each year and those make it onto the tree every year no matter what the theme is.

Growing up, our tree was always a huge gigantic, beautiful mess of totally random ornaments (including some figurines we'd just tie strings to) and I want that for us too, but collecting the randomness takes time!!

When we move into a house, I'm going to have two trees-- a display one for me in the front hall, and a fun one for the kids in the living room. Hopefully both will be real trees as well-- right now we have a 5.5 foot fake tree.

...I love Christmas trees :)

We collect ornaments from various travels and experiences, so there are a lot of random ornaments on our tree. Eventually when we have a bigger house we may split more than one tree into more of a theme, but for now it is a bit of everything.

Usually we just add an ornament or two- this year is three, one from visiting Wrigley Field, one from our anniversary cruise, and a shrimp with a crown on it because we nicknamed the boy "the shrimp king" (a play on his name to be).

No theme for us. DH is very much against a tree theme. We have white lights and a random selection of ornaments that were gifts and have sentimental value.

we don't have a tree. we'll try to have one next year. i do like the monotone theme. like all gold. all silver or just a flash of another color. but we'll see what kind of traditions we'll start - like whether we'll get an ornament every year. if so, might not be a specific theme.

When I was growing up the theme was "All the crap you can throw on a tree" -- multi-colored blinking lights, tinsel, ornaments that were art projects from when I was in nursery school, etc. Our tree now is a bit more subdued. We have white lights and glass ornaments in a variety of different colors, sizes, and shapes.

The theme is like Woods and birds, the colors are green. I just picked it because it was pretty. Although, now with Baby Bear here, it's going to become a hodgepodge of things because her daycare teacher made an ornament with her footprint.LOL

I personally HATE themed trees (like with a burning rage)... I think the theme of a Christmas tree should be "Christmas".
I'm not judging anyone else for having one, but I think they are "wrong". To each their own!
Clearly I have unreasonably strong opinions about Christmas :)

Our tree is a collection or keepsake ornaments (that we'll add to over the years) and random "filler" ornaments that are all different colors and look pretty.

Ours has white lights and is decorated with ornaments handed down from my mom. I buy a few new ones of my own each year. I would love to have a themed tree, too, which just means that I probably need to decorate 2 trees. Hmmm....maybe next year!

No Christmas tree this year :) DH and I have a mini pottery barn tree we bought our first Christmas together. Every year we add one little ornament. There are three ornaments on it!

Do you have a theme or color palette for your Christmas tree?

Mine is a very simple tree with white lights, gold balls, and metal dragonflies. I love it. Next year I'm thinking about doing a paper theme, and making ornaments out of old book pages.

My parents tree was decorated by my little sister, so it's got multi-color lights, blue lights, and purple lights. It's covered in every single kind of tinsel you can buy, and then every color of balls with some candy canes and straw wreaths thrown in for good measure. My sister claims it's an 80's disco theme, but she wasn't even alive in the 80's so I'm not sure where she's getting that from.

What's your tree theme?
