I am planning on doing this http://simplysadiejane.com/2014/01/6-week-at-home-crossfit-inspired-workouts-week-1.html

I love that it switches up everyday. Instead of doing it everyday I do 5 days a week.

@dc yoga bee: the 10km was a good run, good luck! I started running about 6 weeks before hand only 1-2x / week. I started at like 4km and then worked up to 8.5km. I would tandem carry my girls for 5km walking every day and when it came to the actual run, I felt quite prepared.
No, the barre class is just run by a local mom who is instructing it out of a dance studio.

@dc yoga bee: I just tried OrangeTheory fitness and it was awesome! It's based on heart rate training, and the atmosphere is so different from the barre studio.

@ineebee: DH wants to try crossfit so badly, but at $200 a month it's way too cost prohibitive! I like with the fitness classes I can buy a package of 5 or 10 to spread out over a few months!! I'm too scared to tear up my knees. I've see some amazing results though!

@MrsB2012: We are signed up for a 10K in November!! I plan to do yoga, barre, and running. I don't feel comfortable running yet though. I'm thinking I will start a run/walk program in September! Is the baby wearing class at Xtend? Ours advertises a baby wearing class, but my LO would never cooperate!

@namaste: @avivoca: Yes! My current package is at Xtend Barre, and even though it's a chain it's a little more laid back. But, my favorite is a local studio with barre and spin!

After B I dabbled in crossfit but only for like a month and a bit. I lost a ton of weight in that time though. I mostly just walked daily. With G I started walking right away, I signed up for a 10km that was at 3 months PP, so I started jogging a bit for that. Now I do a babywearing barre class 2x / week. I really like the barre class!

First of all, sorry - I know what they say: "The first rule of CrossFit is to talk about CrossFit ALL THE TIME." Guilty!

I did CrossFit before pregnancy and have gone back to it, and it's been great because it incorporates both cardio and strength, and it's a super-efficient hour-long class. Also, I like that I don't have to choose what muscle groups I'm working on that day. I just show up and do what they tell me to do and scale as necessary.

@dc yoga bee: I feel that way about our the barre chains too. I also think they go out of their way sometimes to be elitist (at least, the studio I went to). They definitely only want a certain clientele to frequent their establishments, which is reflected in the prices they charge for classes/memberships and the apparel they sell.

@namaste: Some of the places I've been to have felt like a high school popularity contest! I've found the local barre places are better than some of the chains (pure barre, etc..) Whenever I visit family out of town I always try to find a local yoga/barre studio, and have not been disappointed!

I've tried a few things that are new because I was getting tired of my old workout routine before getting pregnant.

Staples are:

Yoga
Running
Strength Training

I'll be trying Stroller Strides soon which sounds like a fun workout! I really LOVED the muscles that I worked out in barre but I thought the environment was weird :/ Would love to do it at home.

I did 30ds after ds1.

We've joined a gym since that time so this time I plan on going back to my Zumba classes, cardio/wtlifting, and swimming laps. My friend also just sent me the bikini body guide for at home workouts until I can get my gym routine going. I also plan on going paleo because that is the only way I can keep up my milk supply and shed pounds. (My body holds onto wt while nursing).

Echoing- walking! With LO in his stroller. I had no time or energy for anything crazy until about six weeks ago. Since then I have been running (started off run/walking and now can run about 2.5 miles pretty easily) and also Barre. Sadly I also have four classes that expire tomorrow that I won't get to use- I hate wasting money. Barre works my muscles and running works my heart. Both clear my head in a way I need! I was only able to start exercising consistently when LO began napping consistently (2 75-100 minutes a day) and my husband saw how important/helpful it was to me and my mental health. It feels good though, now- I lost six pounds in a month and am super close to PP weight. I also cut my sugar intake :crying: but it helps.

I did all walking up until my appointment. after I continued to walk, did the elliptical, and did strength exercises whenever I had a chance. (pushups, sit-ups, planks, squats, ect.) I'm down 15 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight less than 4 months after giving birth. I feel great. This is mixed with a whole foods only diet.

@dc yoga bee: I did barre for a few months before getting pregnant and I definitely noticed a difference. I was doing bootcamp the month I got pregnant and I had lost some inches and a couple of pounds (I was also running 3-4 days a week). I wish I could go back to doing barre, but it's so expensive and I definitely think it would have helped me get back to pre-baby shape.

Once I had my son, I didn't have time to spend an hour + at the gym taking classes so I focused on short but intense interval work outs. Lifting really heavy weights 2 times a week, and instead of training for a half marathon, I ran 2 miles with 1 minute sprints every few minutes. It definitely helped me past my plateau.

You can start with a beginner version of this - like walk for a mile, and the next mile do 10 jumping jacks, 10 burpees, and 10 pushups every 3 minutes.

Walking is awesome at first. You might surprise yourself with how deconditioned you are - even if you stayed fit during your pregnancy. I liked Lindsay Brin's postnatal boot camp DVD, it has some variety and you can break it into small segments if you don't have a big chunk of time. The boot camp theme really wasn't my thing but the star is cheerful and encouraging without being annoying and the music made my toddler laugh :P

@avivoca: Did you find the barre classes made a real impact? I felt like I got some toning, but I wasn't really losing weight doing it right before I got pregnant. Im scared to start running again, because I still have extra weight from pre-pregnancy on my joints! But, I did sign up for a 10K in November I'll eventually need to train for!
