I loved the kiddopotomus/summer swaddle with the Velcro....cheap and easy...it's like swaddling for dummies :). For big baby never busted out of it...I guess she's a calm sleeper and we stopped swaddling around 11 weeks bc I was scared she would get addicted to it and it would be difficult to wean when she got older.

@ElisaT: I wouldn't worry about overheating if one of the layers is an AA blanket. They're very breathable. Just maybe only do cotton PJs instead of fleece or something.

@ElisaT: They Woombie is snug, but a little stretchy. Its basically a thick t-shirt material with more stretch. What it does is make them feel like they are still in the womb. They have the ability to move their arms around in there, but if they jerk it keeps them contained so it doesnt wake them. Its very soothing because its such a similar environment to the womb. Liv used to calm immediately when we zipped her up. So if her arms are flailing, this would work well (that was Livs issue as well, and we ended up extended swaddling her.)

Night number two in Miracle blanket and we are somewhat back to LO's night routine that she started at around three weeks! It was interrupted for a few days after daylight savings and the breaking out of A&A blankets. I feel like a more sane person with some decent sleep ticked under my belt. Hallelujah!!!!!! (now I hope I didn't just jinx myself.......)

@shellio @livsmama @mrs. yoyo - If I didn't have the Miracle Blanket already, the double swaddle was next on my list of swaddled to try. The only thing is DH has a huge fear of overheating LO after her fever incident at 22 days so he is very wary of how many layers I put on her (I know a fever has nothing to do with that, but we were worried sick when she was sick and he read overheating may cause SIDS).

We have two swaddle me blankets as hand me downs from a friend and used it the first two weeks in top of the A&A blanket (it was chilly in our room cause the heat was being wacky), and I liked then. But for some reason LO didn't like the swaddle me alone. =P

@livsmama - How tight are the woombies? I like how easy they look (just zip and go!) and would consider them when I wean LO from arm restricted swaddling later on. Right now her arms flail so much and wake her easily so it wouldn't work just yet.

I'm not sure if it is coincidence, but today is the first day in using Miracle Blanket during naps and she's on nap 3 already! I'll give it a few more days but hopefully the blanket works!

We used the swaddleme. I liked them when they fit right.... but they didn't have a size medium. So when she outgrew the small ones naturally we bought the next size up, large. When I'd get her for a middle of the night feeding she would have the blanket up over her nose and mouth which really freaked me out. I wrote the company to complain and they offered to send me another one. I didn't want another one, I already had one!

I used a Kiddopotomus bamboo swaddle with velcro. It was the only thing my son couldn't break out of, and we swaddled for a long time...6 months.

When he was small, loved the Miracle Blanket. But he is a tall guy and outgrew it by 3-4 months. After that, the most foolproof method until we kicked the swaddle habit completely was the double swaddle -- an AA blanket on the bottom, wrapping arms similar to the Miracle Blanket, and then a SwaddleMe on top of that.

miracle blankets all the way! we have 3. The 2 we used the most have holes in the corners of the seams because we pulled it so tightly all the time. RJ was a mighty active, strong baby and he was so comforted by swaddling that we lived for the swaddle. And he could break out of everything else we tried other than the miracle blanket. Once we got the hang of it (had to watch a video) I don't think he ever broke out of it once.

I used the A+A all the way until 4 months. She started breaking out of them too, but we used a modified double swaddle (This version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOnsKlluHIg) and it worked like a charm.

We alsu used the Woombie when she was little, until the movement of her arms started making her mad. When it did, we used that modified swaddle and topped it with a larger woombie and it worked

We tried Under the Nile but those were way too small within a few weeks. We loved the A+A, I have Bambino which are similar to A+A and I like those too but they aren't as soft. What we've done is double swaddle him, especially while its cold out, keeps him warmer plus harder to break out of. Another thing we've found is that if he is in a long sleeved shirt, it is harder for him to bust out. Now he is 12 weeks and busts out every time, we stopped swaddling because he startles less but his sleep got noticeably worse. We just started swaddling again and it seems to help him go to sleep even if he breaks out soon after.

We have been using the Aden & Anais muslin blankets to swaddle LO since we brought her home from the hospital, but the past two weeks she has been able to loosen it quicker and quicker! Before we know it, her hand is free and then her whole arm. The loosened blanket would mean every time she startled, the swaddle would prove useless since she would wake herself still. I like the A&A material but her sleep was suffering (thus my sleep...). Well, tonight I finally broke out the Miracle Blanket for its debut and am interested to see if the tighter swaddle is what she needs to rest better. We didn't take it out sooner cause she was so tiny and the arm bands didn't fit properly.

What is your favorite swaddle blanket? Do this change as your LO grew stronger/bigger?

Also, do you swaddle then feed or feed then swaddle for bedtime?
