Right now it seems to be "potato chips for breakfast are a legitimate life choice." I'm hoping to change that once my dissertation is done.

Oh, and my exercise philosophy is basically just get outdoors and do something, even when it's usually just a walk with the stroller. Getting outdoors makes me feel good!

@spaniellove: This!

I believe that food should make me feel good and should make me happy, not be something to stress over. I eat healthily because I know it will make me happier in the long run and that I feel bloated and yucky if I eat too much that's processed and too much junk, but I'm also very anti beat-myself-up-over-anything. I try to eat lots of fruit and vegetables but mostly because they make me feel best and happiest! I won't eat anything I don't like just because it's healthy.

I also believe that all bets are off when I go out. When I grocery shop I tend to buy healthier things and lots of vegetables, etc., but if we're eating out I'll get a cocktail, the baby back ribs, and dessert. So I guess my philosophy would be "Treat myself when out, healthy at home."

I believe in eating healthy food: plant protein, fish, fruits, veggies, dairy. I also believe in enjoying sweets.

I don't believe in obsessing or counting- for me that is unhealthy (mentally). I believe in the goal of health, not being thin. I was at my least healthy when I was my thinnest.

I believe in doing exercise that is a part of enjoying my life: walking with lo in the stroller, swimming and hiking and climbing.

I eat real whole foods. A mostly veggie & fruit based diet. & I exercise 4 to 5 times a week because I enjoy it & I believe that I should use my body to the best of its abilities while I still have them. I usually do about 30 minutes a day...so don't let my ideals make you think I'm some athlete lol

Less chemicals, more vegetables. :) for exercise its do whatever you will do. For me that means hig intensity interval videos (i like jillian michaels) with cardio classes or running as i feel like it, plus lots of walking. The more i move the better.

I get on exercise 'kicks' I will be on a spinning kick, or body pump, or insanity or running, I can never stay with one thing for a long time.
As far as diet goes, I have always been an 'eat what you crave, stop when it doesn't take good anymore' kind of girl. I feel like I don't eat a lot. However, I am starting to get more into a plant based diet after watching Forks over Knives and Food Inc.

@DillonLion: this question is so embarrassing!

My food philosophy? I basically don't have one, unless: "eat til you pop" is a food philosophy?

My excessive philosophy is totally different though. I like to keep it tough, regular and consistent. I def push my limits.
It's probably because I know I have to to help with all that I eat.

@grizz: :bfp: 1 I love this!

Eat clean but no guilt. Live a little - and enjoy, but don't overindulge. Make healthy food deposits so I can enjoy a little every now and then

I do believe that for optimal health I should exercise at least 3x a week, at least 30 min at a time, but I don't. I will for a few weeks, then take a few weeks off, then start up again and the cycle continues.

for food, everything should be in moderation. I don;t adhere to any special type of diet or way of eating (like only clean, whole, reduced carbs, high protein, etc). I am sure there are great benefits, I just know I would never be able to stick to it nor is there any foods i want to limit or give up! I just strive for eating balanced meals and everything in moderation - and even that is often easier said than done!

For exercise, i like to walk a lot and incorporate little things as much as i can. But if i had more time, i would spend more time doing intensive cardio and weight training.

i believe i should be exercising at least 3 times a week, and that even 20 minutes each time would be good. i also believe that i am a lazy ass and have refused to make good on such belief despite having the time, energy and opportunity. sigh.

for food, a few years ago i started cooking mostly vegetarian because one of our close friends who came to dinner all the time was vegetarian for a year, and we have tried to continue that. when we eat meat, we try to buy "happy" meat from the farmers market, and the higher price is another reason to try and eat lots of veggies. not that we are vegetarian or eat only happy meat. just saying we try, and sometimes we say f* it.

My ideal is Michael Pollan's suggestion: Eat real food, not too much, mostly plants.

As for exercise, I prefer to do something different every day and do things that don't feel like exercise or multitask (dancing at a wedding, talking a walk with a friend to catch up, etc)

I haven't been doing much at all in the way of health eating or exercise lately, but I'm really hoping to get back on the bandwagon.
