@Astro Bee: I don't really rub it in much at all. I will say - if you get batiste, don't get the colored version if you plan to use it at night! I also have a random brand I got at a walgreens while on a weekend trip - salon grafix - that goes on clear. For a random drugstore brand, it works pretty well! I have a travel-size bottle that I keep in my purse for touch-ups.

Rainbow Sprinkles gave me some Batiste last year and I'm hooked! I want to try their red one soon, but the regular works great-- and I've used it when my hair was light and when it was dark.

I dislike the aerosol/spray dry shampoos. My two favs are BlowPro and Lush's No Drought. The BlowPro one is a squeeze bottle that puffs out the product, the Lush one you shake the container directly on hair or in your hands.
I use it before bed and style in the morning.

I have the most success when I apply it right after washing/styling on day 1. Then I apply at night before bed. And again in the morning. Y hair gets pretty oily though. If i do that then I can make through day 2 with no wash.
I've tried Tresemme and Herbal Essences and they are ok. Going to give the Batiste and Not Your Mothers a try now since so many recommend!!!

Thanks for the suggestions! So far it seems like a toss-up between Batiste and Not Your Mother's , neither of which I've heard of. MY SIL have me some white powdered stuff in my PP care package (she's the best!), and I also tried Bumble and Bumble, also a white powder. So I'm looking forward to trying something that blends a little better. I'll also try applying at night to see if that helps.

@Mrs. Sunshine: @Jape14: Do you rub it in right away if you apply at night?

Also, I'm in Canada and we don't have Target anymore. I guess I'll check Amazon and Sephora?

I use the normal batiste brand, though they make coloured ones as well. I will use it if im on day 3 with no time to wash my hair and I need to go out some place. The only thing I find with dry shampoo is that it gives me a very sore scalp at the crown.

Right now I'm using Not Your Mothers. I love the results, but it doesn't smell quite as good as the Redkin kind I had before. But the Not Your Mothers is SO much cheaper that it's worth it since it's not like it smells bad.

My favorite dry shampoo tip is to use some on your hair before bed at night and then reapply as needed in the morning. I'm not picky about brand but batiste is a good one!

My favorite is "not your mother's" brand. Love that stuff and it doesn't leave a white residue. I just spray it almost like hair spray. I love that it cleans but also volumizes! I'm currently using s Dove one and I like that one too.

A spin-off of @Mrs. Sunshine's thread.

I have tried a couple of dry shampoos, but haven't been satisfied with the results. Maybe I'm not doing it properly, or not using the right kind? I have auburn hair with slightly darker roots, and the white powder is still rather obvious to me even after combing it out. I tend to get a greasy scalp, but I don't have time for a full-on showering, washing, drying, styling routine every day.

What kind do you use, and how do you apply it? Also, is there an ideal amount to use?
