In my dream world, 6:30am-12pm, that is when my brain is at it's peak. After 12pm you can't get any work out of me. I don't mind my 8am-4pm schedule now, but once we have kids I'd like to move more towards part time since we don't need my benefits, but we do need my check :)

Right now things work well with our schedules. DH works 8-5 M-F @ the office (OT from home) & I work 8-4 M-F. I drop him off at 745 I'm to work by 8 & in the afternoon it gives me an hour to do whatever before picking him up. For our current situation this schedule is ideal. with no kids right now I'd rather work Monday through Thursday with 10 hour days. then I could use Fridays for all appointments and errands that need to be run during the week. I'd miss a lot less work that way but because I do DH's transportation that's not an option.

@Mrs. Pen: for sure. I spend a lot on gas. Luckily I have a little commuter car, that I get about 40 miles on the gallon for since most of my commute is highway. But my work isn't down for me working less days. They prefer me to come in M-F. It stinks.

I love my schedule. I work Tues thru Friday 8-4. So I have a long weekend every week. On work days I barely see both kids in the morning but Wagon Sr. and I both get home in time for dinner, a little play time, baths, and bedtime. He works 8-4 as well. We get home around 5 and see the kids for about an hour and a half before they both go to bed.

@Mrs. Pen: We pay by the day, so it's the same whether it's 7-6 or 11-4:30, but it's pretty inexpensive, so we don't mind, plus if we have a long day in the future, we won't have to pay more.

@MaisyMay: I love having schedules like that since it means we pay less for childcare ;) When I switch to my perm schedule, DH will be home on Weds at 4:30, so J will only need care from 9:30-4:30, but Monday are our long days - 9:30-7!

@mrskc: I don't mind my commute... but the way I see it is extra $$ for gas and miles on the car when I could just squeeze all those hours into two days and save gas :)

I like flexibility to be able to do longer days part of the week and shorter days on others. Right now, I do about 40 hours with a 7-4 MWF and 9-4 TT.

@Mrs. Pen: It works for us because DH goes to work early, usually out the door by 6:00/6:30 and is off by 3:00. I drop LO off at daycare around 11:00 and she gets picked up by 4:30, making her daycare day short and giving both of us solo bonding time. DH has dinner with me when I get home..

@MaisyMay: see I would hate an 11-7 shift because J goes to bed at 11:30! I like our mealtimes together.

@mrskc: when I got hired I was offered a schedule of M-F 7-1 but I turned it down because it would hinder my ability to pick up extra shifts AND it's 20 miles to work, so going in every day for just half a day wasn't practical.

I'd much rather work M-Th 7-6 with a lunch break, and have Friday off! I will be working M-F 7-3, no lunch, when I get back from maternity leave, and for now, that's a pretty ideal situation for us. DH is going to drop LO off at daycare at 8, and I'll have her back with me by 330! :)

Hmmmm I think I would want to work M-Th 7-1 so 24 hours per week. Right now I'm working 8-12 M-F as part of my maternity leave and I'll be starting full time again in 3 more weeks and my schedule will be M-F 7-4.

I just talked to my boss about this yesterday! I'd like to work 30-35 hours a week, only Monday-Friday. I don't mind the 11-7 shift because I avoid traffic, LO and I hang out in the mornings, and it's easy to get errands done in the morning. I get home between 7:30-8:00 which means I eat dinner, we do bathtime for LO, put her to bed, and then DH and I usually have 30-60 minutes to hang out before bed.

And don't say part time with FT pay/benefits hahaha

I am working PT and I like it, but it's only 20 hours/week and I would like to work more

My ideal schedule would be
M, T & Th 8-4:30, and F 7-1. At my job we get benefits at 20 hrs/part time so I'd rather not work FT, but I like working more than just 20 hrs.

DH says his ideal FT schedule would be four ten hours days, M-Th, 7-5.

Although I can change my hours at my job, all shifts are predetermined by recruiting so I could only switch permanent schedules with someone else or use the available shifts they offer instead of choosing my own. My permanent schedule right now is MW 8-6:30. I don't mind ten hour days but I don't like working until 6:30 because I see my kid for half an hour.

What is your ideal schedule?
