@Boogs: My daughter is TERRIFIED of the vacuum. She always starts crying as soon as we take it out of the closet.

@Sha: Sit him down a safe distance away, and then take the blue ribbon and put it on the ground (still far away from him). Then start to swish it a little bit on the ground. You'll quickly notice if he's intrigued!

This thing works on the same principle and our cats love it:

The loud static noise the TV makes when we accidentally switch the input from TV to video. FREAKS him out everytime and he goes running the other way.

He might think it looks like a snake... it might be an innate fear of snakes?

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2001/10/1004_snakefears.html

Growing up, my dogs would sometimes have the same fear of colored strings... especially when the string moved or if the wind was blowing on the string.

She's scared of everything. Loud noises and people (other then her mommy and daddy and grandma) are the two biggies.

i just realized my 17-month-old is scared of a curly blue ribbon that came on one of his birthday presents. it was sticking out from a shelf in the kitchen and i would find him in there, staring at it, fascinated, but at a safe distance. if i tried to make him touch it, he would start shaking his head and backing away. once he did touch it and then he climbed into my lap and hid his face for 10 minutes. i have no idea what he thinks it is. it's kind of sad but equally hilarious to watch his reactions.

is your LO scared of anything?
