We read to LO for 15 min every night at bedtime (has to be that long because we have to keep her upright 20 min after her bottle before bed). She doesn't love it lol. She is 8 mo and depending on her mood sometimes she'll be happy for 5 min. Sometimes 10 min. Rarely the full 15. We do a lot of bouncing her and giving her stuff to play with while we read.

Anywhere from 10 seconds to 10 minutes. It really depends on the day! She's 16 months.

At 2.5, great! However, it took us a long time to get here and when she was younger I worried constantly about her attention span because she would run around like a maniac at library story time and only sit with me for a minute or two to read before getting distracted. Turns out she just needed time.

My son could sit for hours, literally. He has always had quite a long attention span for books. Even when he was under age 1 he could read with me for 30 minutes or more. We just got a new chapter book that takes an hour to read if we read the whole thing in one go. We read it last night all the way through, and then he wanted more!

At 13 months, DD isn't very interested. She'll sit through maybe one board book and then move on.

She has gotten a longer attention span now that she's a little older. She also likes to flip pages if we sit on one too long but mostly she sits and listens.

@Bao: Our daughter was like that too! She did enjoy flap books though, and we used that to build up her attention span!!

LO1 has really gotten better over the past few months listening to a story. Sometimes she gets bored if the pages are too long and will start flipping the pages before I can finish. She will sit a good few minutes listening but that's about it, still a huge improvement! My younger LO is only ten months old so she just eats books ;)

How long does your LO sit before they get bored with a book? What age do they really sit and listen, get into, and enjoy a book?
