@sweetchic: babies actually sleep better and longer with an earlier bedtime (between 6:00-8:00). When we'd put Charlie to bed later, he'd actually wake up earlier!

Charlie's bedtime has been 7:30 for a long time, but my schedule is flexible enough that that's ok. It's really tough for working parents who have so little time before bedtime to spend with their babies, but it's really important to protect their sleep. A lot of behavioral problems are actually caused by not enough sleep.

Asian parents don't understand the whole strict schedule thing. But my mom had become a believer after seeing how good of a sleeper Charlie is!

I was telling my husband about how babies should have an early bedtime (I was thinking 7:30 - 8) and he was surprised, mainly because he never had a bedtime growing up. Not to mention, all of our young nieces and nephew on his side of the Family (5 kids between 6 months - 5 yrs) old have no structured schedule at all.

His big question is, if the baby goes to sleep so early, how would he ever get to spend time with him/her if he gets home from work around 6pm?! (FYI, no babies yet, so this is all hypothetical). I admit, his question sounds valid, so how do other working parents feel?!

11 months, 7:30. We tried earlier and later, but that's his natural time so we don't fight it.

LO is 3.5 months and her bedtime is 6-6:30, but I'm trying to move it 7-7:30 because, well, getting up at 6-6:30am every morning is kind of killing me!

DS is almost 4 and goes to bed between 9 and 9:30. This is because I am a SAHM, so I can stay up later with him. He gets up at about 9 in the am too, so we get to sleep in :)

My LO is 7 months old, and his bedtime is 6pm. He usually wakes up between 6am and 7am with one middle of the night feeding. He never adjusted to daylight savings, and I am up earlier than I would like. :(

We're trying to make it 7:30. It was fine until the time change. Now she wants to go to bed earlier, which means she wakes up earlier and I'm just not a fan.

She's. 4 months.

Bedtime has always been between 730-830... pretty much since DH came home (of course at the newborn stage it was just a sleep time before his late night feeding) DS is now 7

Right now we shoot for 7:30 but since getting pregnant with #2 getting dinner ready at the same time doesn't always happen.

ETA: I've always been home so DS really hasn't needed a wake-up time before 7:30 (even when in school his private school started later than public). If he had to be up earlier he would have had an earlier bedtime.

I was always kind of weird about being sure DS got the 12-13 hours of nighttime sleep.

Starting at 2 months bedtime has been 6:30pm. My son (9 months now) gets up every morning at 5:45am to get ready for school during the week and to stay on routine on the weekends.
