@Mrs. Jacks: she wants us to do the pear juice also.
I think the only reason she wanted us to switch, is that switching was what caused the problem to begin with. He was doing great on the enfamil newborn but we switched when he turned 3 mo.

We never had problems with constipation but we've tried so many different formulas since DD developed a milk protein intolerance (it took awhile to figure out). I agree with @zippylef whatever that can help LO outweighs it for me. It's so hard to see LO suffer, knowing something can help.

I supplement my DD with Earth's Best Sensitive formula for her eczema and I really think it's working. I tried the elimination diet for 3 weeks but her eczema persisted so I decided to try supplementing with some formula and her eczema has gone down considerably. So I'm not concerned if it has corn syrup because it's better than having to constantly put steroid cream on her face.

I am not a fan of formula switching at all. Constipation is not something that I typically treat with formula switching either. For under six months I might add some prune or pear juice and for kids over 6 months I would add some water.

Formula switching is a pet peeve of mine, because all these kids end up on really expensive formulas when they don't need to be!

My son was having so much problem with milk and soy, I had to put him on alimentum. I wouldn't change a thing because he is doing so much better now.

@2PeasinaPod: we asked out pediatrician about easing back in to the regular Enfamil and she said if the GentleEase is working then there is no reason to switch it up.

We used Gerber Gentle for C's entire life. She had tummy gas issues. She did wonderful on it and her comfort and doing well with what she was eating was more important to me than a little corn syrup.

We tried the similac sensitive based on the Ped recommendation.
I gave him 8oz since we left the office. Fingers crossed it continues to work....he just did a monster poop, the diaper couldn't contain it and I am now researching where to get my comforter cleaned :)

I noticed that the #1 ingredient was corn syrup after we had started LO on his Enfamil Gentlease, but it helped him so much. DH wants to try to see if he'll ease back into the Infant formula, but I say not to switch him if it's working really well.

Mine was severly constipated for at least 6 months. We switched to Similac Sensitive but it didn't really change anything. The only thing that helped was Miralax.

We used a hypoallergenic formula for the first 6 months on the advice of our midwife/pediatrician/moms consultant group. It's my understanding that this particular formulation is better for newbies when your're not sure of family history of allergies. But that was in Europe, which has a totally diff. philosophy than the US.

I know it is hard not to second guess yourself, but you'll know you made the right or wrong decision as soon as you try the new formula...what's the brand?

Yes the corn syrup did concern me, but LO's well being now concerned me more. She was only pooing every 3 or 4 days and it started to become a really big issue. We are currently on our 4th formula, Gerber Soothe, and it has helped a lot. We tried Similac Sensitive with no change. We are debating wether or not to change to enfamil gentle ease, as our Dr wants us to try it,, but not sure if I was to change it again.

I was a little concerned about this as well (we're on Nutramigen) but I was more concerned with getting my son comfortable while eating. He has really thrived on Nutramigen, so I haven't second guessed myself.

Good luck!

We've been having severe constipation issues and have tried 3 different "regular" formulas.
My pediatrician suggested we try a sensitive formula.
I expressed my concerns that the #1 ingredient is corn syrup, and I try to avoid that for our family.
She told me I shouldn't worry about it....(in a supportive, non condescending tone - I love her!)

What do you think about sensitive formulas?
Does the corn syrup concern you?
Did it help your LO?

We are going to give it a shot, but interested to hear any opinions..
