Hah well, it's not healthy, unfortunately. Carbs kept the queasiness away so for about 5 weeks that's all I ate. I still have a couple diet sodas a day, but obviously don't drink anymore, and I really miss my sushi. Now that the constant hunger/queasiness has gone away, I make some effort to eat better, but most nights I'm too tired to cook.

I'm still early so who knows how morning sickness (if/when it comes) will change but I plan to drink plenty of water (I used to drink crystal light so I am now just choking down the plain stuff). I also plan to have every other day be a no carb day...fingers crossed it will work. I wanted to lose 5-10 lbs before I got pregnant so now I am just hoping to keep my weight gain to 25lbs - fingers crossed. I'll try to do low sodium in my final tri to avoid the water retention...

During my pregnancy I drank a lot of water and milk and ate lots of bananas. I noticed that I ate healthier and was more aware of my eating habits. I wanted the best for my LO. Later in my pregnancy I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, which made me focus on eating more proteins and veggies.

@LazyLightning: Aw hon, I feel you. I think sometimes being as lean as you were to start means you'll gain more! I know your BMI was at the low end of normal.. I think a lot of times these things are more about genetics and less about diet. You look gorgeous, I promise :)

@MamaMoose: nice! I'm up 22 lbs at 18 weeks, though I laid off the extra carbs 2 or 3 weeks ago as much as I could. :-(

@LazyLightning: I ate carbs like it was my job. My morning sickness lasted until 20 weeks and carbs were the only thing that was appetizing. The day I delivered I was only 18 pounds over pre pregnancy weight and I was overweight to begin with or anything. So don't stress too much.

no major changes/additions. i've kinda changed my eating schedule though. i used to eat at odd hours, but now i try to eat a smaller meal every 3 hours or so. it helps with digestion. also, i used to rarely drink soda, but now i drink ginger ale pretty often since it helps with digestion also. ugh, otherwise it always feels like food is stuck in my chest and won't go down.

I have always been a water drinker, so I kept that up. However, otherwise, I have had more than one sweets attack. I never used to like cookies/cake etc., that much, but while pregnant, I wanted it all. I said no sometimes, but not often. I'm two weeks away from my due date, and I try to east fruits and veggies, but I'm also all over the Christmas goodies. I've gained about 25 pounds (about 5 pounds more than initially recommended), but my doc is OK with it, so I'm OK with it.

Lots of water. I never drank water before I got pregnant and then I realized I had to! It wasn't hard, though because I was thirsty all the time.

I'd love to say, "Oh, I got healthy and only ate salads and veggies and fruits and grilled meats!" Heck no, I ate out as often as possible and if it was fried? The more, the merrier. I ate bags of Oreo's like it was my job and just really enjoyed EATING. :)

I ate extra healthy for the first 2 weeks - lots of fruit and veggie, dairy, less fat and sugar and of course, no alcohol.

Then I got severely morning sick and stopped eating basically anything except complex carbs (crackers n cheese, tortilla chips, etc). Now, at almost halfway thru the pregnancy, my sickness has started to lift, so I am trying to transition back toward the healthy!! Not only is it good for me but I don't want to gain 75 lbs either.

My OB/GYN told me a south beach-ish diet is what he thinks is the prefect pregnancy diet--so lots of protein and veggies. He told me to try and cut down on carbs and that bread and potatoes are the worst. I have really been trying to follow this...a lot of times if we're out to eat I will ask for no rice/potatoes and extra veggies instead. Sometimes I feel nauseous and bread is the only thing that sounds appetizing, so I'll have some then, but I've been much better than pre-pregnancy.

ETA: I've also added a daily glass of milk to my diet!

What ever I could keep down! Which meant more carbs and less healthy stuff. I had big time aversions to meat and veggies.

Greek yogurt was a big lifesaver since it is on the healthier side and has protein. I honestly couldn't eat normal volumes of food, so I went with smaller, more frequent snacks.

With my constant morning sickness, my diet is basically all junk food. Toast, crackers, the occasional grapes/fruit, cheese, peanut butter, salty tortilla chips. Yup.....pretty bad!

Can't stomach any meat or veggies right now. Except baby carrots.

*sigh* sadly it's gone from protein and veggies mostly to carbs mostly. I've managed to swap out toast for oatmeal with eggs in the morning but lunch is still a challenge. This whole thing is kicking my healthy diet's a$$ right down the toilet. Oh and I have a very healthy intake of ice cream now, which is a change from before ;)

-increased protein (we didn't eat much meat before pregnancy, now we eat it at least twice a week).

-drinking milk (usually one cup / day)

-aiming for healthier snacks - like crackers & PB (for protein) instead of chips & salsa

-increased dark, leafy greens

-I take an omega-3 supplement (in addition to my prenatal), and I also try to eat fish weekly

I don't mean diet as in losing weight, but did your diet change after you got pregnant? Obviously I know a lot of people start avoiding various items (alcohol, sushi, caffeine, etc.), but did anyone stay adding different items?

I haven't really changed much except I'm trying to drink a cup of milk daily now... I typically eat a lot of fruit to begin with, and some veggies every day (not a ton).
