I'd like to continue pumping until LO is a year, though I'm not sure how frequently I'll pump at that point. Basically, I would like to get him to a year with no formula, assuming he doesn't self-wean before then or I don't have any supply issues. I agree with @Yin: that if I was pumping less than half of his feedings during the day, it wouldn't be worth it to me.

After a year I'd like to continue nursing at least once a day but no longer pump. As long as he's still interested.

I wasn't able to breastfeed directly but exclusively pumped for a year. My goal was to provide LO with breast milk for at least half of his overall daily feedings. If I couldn't, then that was my determining factor to stop pumping. In the beginning I didn't think it was possible for me to pump enough to meet his demand. It only took me a month for my supply to meet his demand, and he drank breast milk exclusively from that point.

I currently work 8-12 and pump twice, usually getting about 4 oz. This is enough for LO's bottle the next day while I'm at work. In June, I'll go back full time and I'm worried about being able to pumpe enough for her for the entire day. My goal has been to make it to a year and for her to not ever have formula. I think we will make it, but I'm nervous about those last 2 months. I don't have much of a freezer stash. When she is 12 months, I'm done pumping!! I'll nurse her until she weans herself, but pumping is the pits.

At 10 months I am dropping down to pumping 2-3x a day (plus nursing). At 11 months I am dropping to 1-2x a day. I hope to be completely free of the pump at 1 year.

LO isn't here yet, so my hypothetical goal will be to nurse/pump exclusively for one year, when we can transition to cow's milk. If that works out I'll be very happy, but if not, I'll see how long I can go. I would rather not have to buy any formula but I know these things aren't always planned.

With my son I rarely pumped because I was home with him until 7 months... then did his 1 daytime feeding by going to the daycare. When he started weaning and only nursed morning/night (14 mos) he just had water at daycare or when I wasn't there.

This time I've pumped since CC was 1 or 2 weeks old. I had to because she HATED nursing when I was really full - which I always was. Right now I'm nursing 1-2x/day (she's 9 months) and that's enough feed her while at daycare. Since I plan to nurse until she wants to wean I guess I'll keep on keepin on with my frienemy the pump. I think my limit will be when she's 18 months - at that point I'll definitely day wean and just nurse mornings/evenings/weekends.

@MsLipGloss: This sounds exactly like me. We've made it 8 months on April 21st. I'm still nursing him morning and night with a bottle of formula as well. I just can't produce enough for him and he's getting more solids, etc.

I was proud to make it to 6 months and now 8 months. Pumping at work is too exhausting and time consuming. I'm ready to be done with it. I hoped to make it to a year, but it's just not feasible and I'm not happy with pumping and eating so much and not producing enough.

I've always just tried to pump as much as I can. Don't really have a end goal but will probably re-evaluate when she's completely weaned off formula into only cow's milk + breastmilk.

Same as @MamaMoose - breastmilk until we can transition to other milk. Ultimately it means that I will not be giving up pumping or dropping a pump session at 1 year like I thought I would. I'll still need three sessions to keep up my supply.

I made it to my long-term goal (6 months) almost 2 months ago (LO just turned 8 months). I have reduced my pumping sessions at work from 3 to 2 a day (I nurse when I am home), and am planning to day wean soon (right around 9 months). Pumping at work has been really difficult and such a drain that I just can't keep it up much longer.

My goal is to make it to a year... 2 weeks away!!! I've had to increase my pumping sessions, even as he decreases his intake and eats more solids, so it's been a struggle. But I'm proud of making it and definitely ready to kick that pump to the curb and start the transition to cow's milk now.

My long-term goal is for him to drink only breastmilk until he is one and then breastfeed when I'm with him/drink milk at daycare.

My short term goal is to make it until May 31st pumping 10-11 oz a day to cover his daycare bottles. In June and July I'll be with him 3 days a week and can cut back on the amount of bottles needed when he's at daycare (I have those months off work).

I have no idea how I'll keep pumping in August & September until he gets to his first birthday. Pumping has been incredibly hard and I don't know if I'll be able to do it again in the Fall. But I'm planning to try!

I don't really have a goal except not to stop. Lo gets a mix of formula and bm...I've tried going back to 100% bm, but he doesn't like the thinness. I pump 3x for 20 ounces a day and feed him about 10. I have a ridiculous freezer stash that I'm trying to work through before it goes bad. I think I can make it a year...it i think I want it to be a year adjusted which would be almost 16months.

Hmm...that sounds like a really long time...but I guess I can stop 4 months earlier and continue with frozen.

I'm almost to 7 months now.

My goal is for her to never have any formula. So I plan to pump until we transition her to cow's milk (or some kind of other milk if she doesn't out grow her dairy intolerance). It will all depend on my ability to keep up my supply but I really really really want to make that goal.

What's your pumping goal?

I'm going to keep giving her 8-10 oz of milk a day while freezing 4. I'll keep up my current pumping schedule until she's 6 months old. At that point, we'll make sure she gets at least 4 oz a day and I'll start pumping less but still freeze some. Our ultimate goal is to make sure that she gets at least 4 oz a day until she's 1.
