Dylan has always loved books, but now he's so opinionated about which ones he wants to read! Right now it's Good Night Gorilla (which has very few words so you have to make up the story) and Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site (great rhyme and pictures).

I like books that have a good rhyme and more complicated words/sentences. The really simple ones bore me, but they are still great for kids.

My two year old loves books that he can interact with. Ones that have flaps that he can lift/slide and see a picture behind. Brown Bear Brown Bear has a version of these and is really good for sight reading. We read every night.

DD loves Sweet Pickles books- they are from the 70's and 80's. Long and poorly written but I loved them as a kid so I have to read them to her.

The Simple First Words/Alphabet books on amazon have buttons to push.

He's on and off with books, has new favorites each week. Boynton is always a hit, so is Pete The Cat. Right now the sheep books by Nancy Shaw is where is at. Goodnight Moon and Hungry Caterpillar were huge from 2-2.5.

LO is really into Disney books about princesses, Elephant and Piggie, Eric Carle, and Curious George.

I am ok with most books except Llama Llama and Olivia...too whiny.

Well, LO is 20 months, but he likes to read things about trains and animals right now. He is starting to really like actual stories rather than just interactive books and song type books that he wanted before. Although he still likes those too (lift the flaps, push a button etc.) He is into Curious George and Thomas the Tank Engine books. He enjoys pointing out objects he knows the name for- "Moon! Hat! George! Chugga! (Train) Dog!" etc.

I like reading the books that have actual stories in them. I read him a lot of the Sandra Boynton books that are more like songs (snuggle puppy etc). I have them all memorized so it makes them easy to read, but they are getting kind of redundant. :)

After showing little interest in books, LO is now obsessed with them! She loves reading and being read to. I'm not a natural reader, but I know how important it is so I try to make a strong commitment to reading to her as often as possible.

We have a few books where it shows an animal, and then there is a button on the side where you can press for the animal noise. She is really great about matching up the animal and the correct button. Plus, it is good for me because there isn't a lot of reading involved with those - ha!

What books does your LO like at age 2? If you aren't a big reader, what kind of books do YOU like to read to LO?
