@Ash: Typically BF babies don't increase their intake much. If you think about it...if a BF baby were nursing instead of taking a bottle he/she likely would never get 7-8 oz in one session from your boobs--that's a lot of milk! Breastmilk also changes as your baby gets older to meet his/her needs which is another reason a BF baby doesn't need as many ounces (usually) in one feeding. So my LO is 5 1/2 months and I don't ever plan to give her more than 4-5 oz at a time.

My DD wasn't gassy. I'm also kind of skeptical of the bottles that claim to reduce colic/gas, though. I like TT a lot...much easier to clean than Dr B (we tried Dr B during our bottle strike and I was actually relieved she wouldn't take it because cleaning them was such a PITA compared to TT).

@lawbee11: I pump and feed. He takes between 3 and 4oz already so I guess I wasn't sure if he'd start taking more or not. Is your dd gassy? Do you like the tommee tippee bottles?

@Ash: Is your LO BF or FF? My LO is BF so we still only give her max 5 oz at a time so I prefer the small bottles (we have tommee tippee). But I know most FF babies eventually increase the amount they consume (some BF babies, too) so I would definitely get the bigger ones if he's FF. That being said, the Dr Browns 8 oz are huge (SO tall). So I could see them being a pain to transport.

@char54: Bahahah, I saw that! You're all over helping me :) Thanks!
I saw the ventair bottles and I love that they're angled. We bought playtex nursers with the drop ins out of desperation due to gas and ds HATED them. I'm afraid to switch - the parts don't bother me- but you're right, they probably are HUGE!

Ha, I just responded to your other thread...a few weeks ago I bought a few 8oz dr browns in desperation . I find they are a huge pita to clean and transport places (the 8 oz are BIG). I prefer playtex ventaire ..we've had no gas issues with those. Though I am keeping the dr browns in my arsenal in case we have another fussy period again!

Right now we use Dr Brown's glass bottles in the 4oz size but I'm going to need to order more bottles for when I go back to work in a month. LO will be 3 months old. Do you recommend 8oz Dr Brown's bottles? When did you stop using a bottle for gas and go to something else?
