Don't buy sets of bottles until you know which one they will take, waste of money. I would start with what you have, maybe have one or two others as back up. You can always send someone to get more when you find one that works.

I have one or two if so many brands in my cupboard and DS has always refused to take a bottle.

We did not have very good luck with the Medela bottles that came with my pump parts; the nipples were prone to collapsing. I still pumped into the Medela bottles, but would then transfer to Dr. Brown bottles, which have been wonderful.

i like the dr. brown bottles, and they were exclusively recommended by the fancy breastfeeding clinic here in vancouver. haha....

LO#1 used playtex drop ins, and LO#2 is using dr. browns. neither of them showed any nipple preference or bottle preference, but they started supplementing with formula young --- around 2 weeks old :).

if i could just pick one, i'd use my medela pump and pump into dr brown bottles (they fit the pump perfectly).

We got a pack of tommee tippee bottles before he was born and tons of medela bottles from our registry. I EBF but needed to get him used to a bottle when I went back to work. He hated both of them at first so we bought some avents but the flow was too heavy. We came back to the TT's and he now loves them. I definitely recommend having maybe one of each type of bottle vs packs of any kind until you find out what you like. I'm hoping he can use the avents soon too now that he's older and can handle a stronger flow.

Lo used both medela and avent naturals and didn't have any nipple confusion. We got lucky though. I just like those bottles because they are easy to put together and have less parts to clean

Somewhere in my free samples was an Avent bottle, which I ended up loving since it was so easy to wash and use. I used MAM (SLOW FLOW!!) nipples though since they were much closer to being nipple shaped. I never had any problems switching between boob and bottle.

My LO isn't picky about bottles but I like the Dr Brown's because she swallows less air, and they have the preemie nipples which are super slow. Slow flow is really important for avoiding nipple preference.

I don't know what kind of anti-colic thing medela has but if they don't have one (the basic ones with the pump didn't) I'd get one like dr browns or playtex and then just go from there when baby arrives.

I would definitely wait. If your LO likes the Medela bottles, you won't need to buy anything else. If not, I would buy single bottles of a couple differing styles and go from there. We wound up buying a lot of bottles that were never used. It was a waste of money (and cabinet space!)

When we first introduced bottle we used medela since it came with the pump but the flow was way too fast. Then I tried avent natural but he wouldn't take it (I actually think I prob didn't try hard enough). He now uses tommee tippee and its working out great- no nipple confusion and slower flow. Maybe you can have 1 or 2 different options as back up for the medela?

I like the ease of medelas, but the nipples do tend to collapse. My LO went on a nursing strike after I was away for a wedding, so next time I want to try the new Calma nipple for the medaela bottles to see if it really would help and it also looks like it would be impossible to collapse! We also use Dr Browns and had great luck with those.

We started with 2-bottles packs of Tommee Tippee and MAM bottles, plus the nipple that came withy Medela pump. The Medela's flow is way too fast for my LO. The others are better but both brands just have so many parts, cleaning and sterilizing is a real PITA. In fact, my hubby and I were just bickering because he hates them so much and I'm "the one who bought those stupid things." But when LO had her tongue tie clipped, the doctor and LC said they recommend Dr. Browns bottles with the preemie nipples because they're the slowest flow bottles out there and babies have to work for the milk, like they do at the breast. So we'll be trying those, too, and fortunately they look simpler to clean (fingers crossed...).

I was gifted 12 Evenflo glass bottles and H hated them. So I bought a lot of different bottles from the HB classifieds to test them out. In the end, she likes the Playtex nurser bottles with the drop-in liners. Her mouth makes the same shape it does when she's on the breast.

We only got a couple of bottles. The first time we gave er a bottle only the tommy tippee were cleaned and sterilized so we used them. It worked. I'd start with what you have and then buy more if you have to.

I hear the playtex drop ins are really good for breast fed babies. I have a starter kit still wrapped in plastic since the TT ones worked out! But the drop ins are really convenient when you do a lot of bottles.

We used Avent because they were gifted to us and the medela ones and she wasn't picky, of course until 5 months old when she went on a bottle strike ;) But in my opinion, don't go overboard buying a bunch of different brands, they are expensive!
