@MrsB2012: I think beco gemini is more like $150 on amazon in the US. Certain comes it designs are more but that's really expensive!

I loved the k'tan when my son was teeny tiny. I actually love the Ergo. I know someone who is a baby carrier addict, and I'm pretty sure her favorite is the Tula. I wish I had known about them- they are SO cute! I die a little every time I see the chevron patterned one.

My favorite carrier when W was itty bitty was either a ring sling or a babyhawk mei tai though, if you've truly given up on your linen wrap.

I've always liked mei tais better than soft structured carriers though, I find them easier to get a good fit in, especially with tiny babies.

Another vote for the boba 3G. Less fabric than an ergo, and you can use it when they are tiny.

@MrsB2012: what kind of linen wrap do you have? Why don't you like it? If it's a woven wrap you should be able to comfortably wear your baby in it for extended periods of time and it would last you through toddlerhood.

LOVE our boba 3g! used it from newborn to now and will continue to use it. the only thing i'm looking for now is something with a hip carry and easy to throw on and off, maybe a ring sling?

Another Beco Gemini fan here! My back was getting destroyed by the Infantino and we got a Beco and have never looked back. I think we had her in it from around ten weeks. DH loves it as well, especially the fact that it has so many options - inward facing, forward facing, side carry, back carry.

@scg00387: no, no groups around here. Even though we live in a 'city' of 90,000 ish people, there isn't much for baby stuff. Even trying to find a carrier I'll probably end up ordering it online as there isn't much to buy.

THanks for all the replies, looks like the Beco Gemini is a favourite. Gives me a good place to start researching. I"m super annoyed the I hate the bjorn as it was pretty expensive :(

I really LOVED my K'tan for the first 5 months of K's life. It was truly a lifesaver. It wasn't as hot as the Ergo with the infant insert. Though I really do love the Ergo with the infant insert too. I thought it was more support for her head and neck when she was tiny. I think between 4-5 months was an awkard in-between stage, so we didn't use the Ergo then, and only used the K'tan. Now I mainly use the Ergo, but the K'tan is great in a pinch at home. I had originally wanted a Beco, but now I love the functions of the Ergo that the Beco didn't have (hood and pockets). I use both all.the.time.

Ooohh...Tula's are supposed to be awesome..I would totally get one of those! I like the look of them way better than Ergos.

I have a Beco Butterfly 2. They were discontinued (replaced with the soleil) but you can still find them secondhand. I love mine! It's nice for little babies because the infant insert comes with it - you don't have to buy it separately. I'm also getting a ring sling made, but don't have it yet so can't speak to it personally, but hear nothing but good things. Babywearing is addictive!

For me I really liked how secure my LO felt in a wrap. We had a moby but I wish I had done the Boba. There are praises sung for the K'tan too.

I used the Ergo from about 12 weeks to 12 months and while I didn't love it, I didn't hate it.

At 12 months I bought a Beco Soliel and I could not be happier! I drool over the Tula too.

C is six weeks and she really isn't comfortable in the beco Gemini yet- she's just too little for it I think- but I really love how easy it is to put on and will use it a lot when she is just a little older.

We use the moby all the time right now, bug it really is a bit warm. It's getting cooler here soon but if its always hot where you are I can see it being an issue. Sounds like the ktan would be a better option. I wanted to love my ktan but I just didn't feel comfortable with it and ended up returning it.

@mrsjazz: I'm not sure if this store would, I don't see why not. They aren't getting any in for a few weeks.

@runsyellowlites: I have a linen wrap, I used it twice but really didn't like it. No reason why, just didn't like it. I want to go for a carrier I can use for long walks/hikes and that I can use for at least a year or so.

@Mrsbells: I've heard lots of good reviews on the Ergo, I was surprised when the lady said they're kind of losing popularity now. Our Target had them for $120 which I don't think is too bad ( I"m in Canada so that's probably way more then the States. ) and I think they had the insert for like $25 or something?

the k'tan is nice for newborns! the main downsides are that it is sized (so if you and whoever else might be carrying LO are different heights, you can't share the carrier) and i think it starts to lose its effectiveness around 15-20 lbs.

I love my k'tan right now for LO (15 weeks) and have been using it with her since birth. I also have the beco gemini, similar to the ergo, and like that but not as much as the k'tan right now. I think the k'tan breeze is supposed to be better for hot weather - we do get warm in the regular k'tan.

If I had it to do over again I would just buy a woven wrap and learn to use it. Haven't worked that one into the budget just yet.

When I was looking for something lightweight that also supported LO in the right position and didn't hurt my back my research brought me to the Tula. I love it. Does the baby store allow you to try on the carriers? Because if they do, then you could try the ones they have and see which works better for you.
