I enjoyed it. I've worked in a community daycare and I'm glad I went to the home daycares as a kid. The community daycare felt busy and I know as a kid I would have hated the organized games and activities. </p> <p>I don't know what we'll do when we have kids. My parents both worked and they lived too far away from my mom's parents, so I just lived there during the week and they'd pick me up on the weekend. I do remember being physically manhandled and also witnessing it by one in home sitter when I was like 5 and I'm very wary of in-homes for that reason. DH's mom stayed home until all the kids were in school then took a job at the school so she would be home the same hours as them. We always assumed that our LO would be in daycare. My brother and sister went to an in home and also my dad stayed at home for 1.5 years when my sister was little. My mom quit her job when I started HS to SAH. </p> <p>Related to that, I wanted to find a job that fulfilled me creatively and allowed me to also be home with my kids, so it helps that I'm a photographer. We didn't have a lot of money growing up.<br /> My dad is a farmer so was always at home, once I became old enough, I think around grade 4 I would just go home and just fend for myself. She'd put my brother in daycare briefly when he was a baby and was very against it after that. </p> <p>My husband's mom was also a SAHM or took jobs she could work only when he was cared for by family/when he was in school. </p> <p>It didn't affect how I THOUGHT I would parent. I always assumed we'd do daycare and had 0 desire to be a SAHM. But I think now that LO is here it strongly affects how we feel about things. I ended up staying home for 20 months (more through circumstance than choice) and we really liked it (except the lack of money). I went back to work 2 weeks ago and we are HATING daycare. We were mainly at home with Mum while she taught but I would say my Grandmothers and the elderly lady across the road filled in the gaps. </p>
