@bluestriped bee: Target's dollar section always has great stuff, little books, sidewalk chalk, even ties and bowties Mrs. Cowgirl told me about! Gift giving does not have to be too expensive. Even my dollar tree has good books and coloring books sometimes. Definitely just steer clear of little cheapy dollar items that will never get used.

My lo is 9 months old and really doesn't need much. I'd love it if her Grandparents got her this bunny - http://shop.gund.com/p/fuzzy-chocolate-bunny-13-5/gund_fuzzy?pp=12 :)

I should also add, I don't like the idea of just putting things in Easter baskets to have "things." I think a couple of good items (like a book or two, a puzzle and a stuffed bunny) is a much better idea than a bunch of stuff that isn't all that great quality (like $1 items).

@bluestriped bee: Honestly, I agree with @Boogs:

We personally don't care for stuffed animals in our house. $21 is a lot of money for three small stuffed animals that will probably get thrown out. At that age, my LO was more into books and toys than stuffed animals.

I think the personalized letter is cute, but you could just DIY something. Same with the coloring book.

Here are some great suggestions. I got my daughter the shape sorter eggs:
http://www.babycheapskate.com/2013/03/04/10-at-10-or-under-cute-easter-gifts-for-babies-and-kids-2/

Also, what about an Easter DVD:
http://www.babycheapskate.com/2013/03/06/3-easterish-dvds-at-42-off-or-more/

I totally miss the gift-giving culture! I'm pretty sure DD won't get an Easter gift, except from DH and I. It's just not a gift-friendly anything around here.

If you're gonna do a personalized letter, you could probably easily DIY that. Kinda the same thing for the coloring book. As far as stuffed animals, it depends if they are into them. We actually don't keep stuffed animals in our home because of the dust collecting aspect (for allergies).

I know it might seem boring, but I really just love to get a little shirt from a Target or Old Navy. They both always have reasonable priced t-shirts and button downs. Another favorite is a swim suit! Or maybe even accessories like a hat or sunglasses (if you know they will wear them). Books are also usually safe. I'm usually okay with little snacks like goldfish if you want to also include at least one little edible treat. I probably have more ideas if you want more just let me know. :)

Books! I want to expand his library and I'd love for books to replace candy and stuff that will end up in the trash. I already know my mom is sending candy for DS (18 months) but we won't give it to him. We got two board books and a small, plastic adirondack chair for DS this year. I might get him a little box of goldfish too.

Glad you're trying to come up with non-candy options! I hope my family are this thoughtful when buying Easter gifts for my LO.
I second the recommendation for the dollar bins at Target, they have TONS of adorable Easter items.

I'm trying to think of some alternatives on easter gift for my nephews. They are out of state so I would be sending gifts to them.

I have an 8 month old and a 3 year old nephew. I thinking about staying away from the candy aspect of Easter.

I'm thinking this 'First Easter' basket for the youngest. It's just stuffed animals (plush easter basket, stuffed bunny, chick and egg). http://www.geniusbabies.com/myfieababagu.html

I need to figure out a candy or sweets free gift idea for my other nephew. (I think my sisters will probably get my nephews easter baskets with candy and so I'm trying to think of some other alternatives.)

What about this personalized letter from the Easter bunny? http://www.personalizationmall.com/Personalized-Letter-From-The-Easter-Bunny-i28100.item?productid=9521&storeid=29&categoryid=1420&did=14295&utm_source=gifts_com&utm_medium=cpc

With this personalized coloring book: http://www.personalizationmall.com/Personalized-Easter-Letter-from-Peter-Cottontail-p14919.prod?sdest=dept&sdestid=1420&storeid=29&categoryid=1420

What do you think of these gifts?
