At about 36 weeks, LO had to see some pediatric heart specialists because through ultrasound they discovered that she had a potentially very serious heart defect. When she was born, she had to see the pediatric cardiologist soon after birth, and we had to follow up with EKGs and ultrasounds of her heart for several months after birth. Luckily, the defect corrected itself. Had it not, it was one of those things where an otherwise healthy teenager or 20-something just drops dead one day. Thank goodness for ultrasounds!!!!!!!!!

Since then, it's been all mild stuff: clogged tear ducts, ear infection, plenty of colds and conjunctivitus. She also had really bad colic as an infant, as a result of severe gas/digestive system issues.

He supposedly had infant reflux, but I never believed he did and actually did fine once I took him off the Zantac, so I think it was just a fussy nursing phase ;) Otherwise, he caught RSV and an intestinal bug at daycare but nothing serious, thank God.

@Mrs. Jacks: It is! I'm amazed at how they all clicked and just ran with it. Amazing what a few parents on a mission can do. Although I have to be a little jaded that so many things that afflict kids/adults get little attention because they are not the big C. We occupy so little of any budget (NIH or otherwise) that we almost don't get a mention. :/

She was born with a retracted mandible, but it's not REALLY a health issue. Her bottom lip is just tucked back a little bit. It really effected her latch in the beginning, but now she can eat fine. She'll grow out of it, but we have to see a surgeon about it every few months until it's gone. Otherwise, she's awesome - no allergies or anything so far! Knock on wood.
