Rolling duffels (we have ones with an integrated pull out handle from Samsonite) for longer trips and I  my Rimova spinner as a carryon. I can definitely pull it behind me on two wheels.

My issue with duffels is that they aren't as easy to pack and to see/find what you need in there without totally unpacking it. I like my hard sided spinner because it's so structured.

@Littlebit7: I am going to try to remember about these when we need to replace some luggage.

I use packing cubes, so I am wondering if I could use them with the duffles.

@looch: I really like them, especially for longer trips. When the baby was little and we went skiing, we had ski boots and bags and coats, her baby bjorn bouncer, food, you name it. I can fit her baby bjorn travel crib too. Those bags are TOUGH. and lightweight! Some of the big spinner suitcases weigh 10-12 lbs, which really digs in to your carrying capacity if you are watching max weights. The duffels also slide under beds for storage and aren't tall. Bonus imo.

I love spinner luggage. I can pull ours like normal with 2 wheels or use all 4 on spinners. It's especially convenient to have the spinners when you're lugging a bunch of crap and dealing with kids at the same time

I love my Eddie Bauer rolling duffel. http://www.eddiebauer.com/product/expedition-drop-bottom-rolling-duffel---large/82302253/_/A-ebSku_0232253100__82302253_catalog10002_en__US?showProducts=&backToCat=Duffels%20_%20Luggage&previousPage=GNAV&tab=gear&color=116

I have the large size and I can pack myself and DD for a week (I'm neither a minimalist nor an over-packer). I've been considering getting the smaller size for work travel.

I have a great Lipault spinner that can either be pulled on 2 wheels or pushed upright, and I really like it! It's really lightweight itself too, so very easy to manage on public transportation/streets as well as through the airport

@Mamaof2: Really? I don't remember ever not being able to pull them on 2 wheels like the other ones! I tried to look for our set but they're kinda old so I can't find the exact ones. I just remember the spinning wheels made turning, etc so much easier.

@snowjewelz: can you pull a spinner? DH and I were in NYC last weekend and trying to pull it was impossible and trying to push it on all 4 wheels on the streets of NYC wasn't working either!

spinner for carryon, LLBean rolling duffels for checked bags (they store under beds really easily and I can cram them with SO much crap). I normally order them in a really loud color and have our last name embroidered on them; easier to spot on the luggage carousels.

We just bought a rolling duffel. I like the idea of the spinner, but those little wheels just look so fragile. I would be afraid that they would be snapped off easily. I think they would be fine for carry on bags though.
