Although Kathryn actually IS a traditional spelling and doesn't seem made up to me like people who add random Ys. I have a similar middle name: Lyndsey. Which is actually far less traditional. It's never really bugged me. I think with both names it (should) help that there are multiple ways to spell it anyways. You don't hear Kathryn or Lyndsey and assume you know how it is spelled. Could be Katherine or Catherine or Lindsay or Lindsey too. Like, I feel it's good that the name still be in circulation somewhat. Otherwise I feel like it is kind of trying too hard. But really, it's not usually the specific name, I think it's more the hearing people talk about their kids and thinking "what happened to John and Mary?!" You know? Does that make any sense?</p> <p>I also don't like last names as first names. However I don't mind it for girls as long as it doesn't look ridiculous. I have a "y" instead of an "i" or an "o" but since my name is unisex I think it makes it look more feminine.
