We use the divided plates. I found a couple on sale at Target that had things LO was interested in (Trains, cars) and he doesn't often throw them.

We bought a pack of the colourful plastic Ikea plates after her cute Peter Rabbit plate shattered from too many throws off the highchair, ha ha. Honestly I would go cheap and cheerful until the throwing stage is over.

We use divided plates from Target with the robot design on them. They have great matching snack bowls too. I also have a small stash of Munchkin bowls and plates for when he gets bigger or if I want to change it up a bit.

We used regular plates, I didn't have a lot of choice when my son began eating food, so I used what I had.

I don't see the point of divided plates, we don't eat that way, so I am not sure why my kid should.

I would say go with whatever you like, but don't spend a fortune. Cute plates are just that - cute. They don't help your kid eat any better or worse.

We use those same replay plates. The suction ones never suctioned well, and the throwing phase doesn't last too long. I say skip the suction and go for a divided plate.

My kid throws food and dishes. We bought the suction cup plates and bowls but he is still able to break them free. He figured out that if he pulls them forward, the suction will break once it hits the edge of the table. Sigh.

I started my nannied kiddo with fancy china plates. He was well monitored and redirected whenever he started to pick up the plate. We haven't had any broken dishes! Now he uses a divided plate made from recycled plastic (re-play I think) It feels very durable but he still doesn't throw dishes. Sometimes he will throw the food though. :)

Right now we just dump R's food on the high chair tray. But she did great using a bowl at my Mom's this weekend. And I think they use a bowl at day care.

Plus I figure it would be good to get her started with it. Should I buy suction ones so she can't throw it off? Or just use a divided plate? What works for you?
