I loved Pedipeds! It was the one shoe he couldn't take off.
He wore Emu soft sole boots and shoes when he was first walking but it's too hot for that now ;)

We got the high top toms. They're very supportive for their feet and have a soft sole.

I like pediped dakotas. We got them about six months after walking. The line is good though.

@Crumbs: We saw some crocs at Costco, but they were too big for DS. This whole shoe thing is confusing with so many options! Plus, sizing is difficult for me to gauge since I'm not sure how much bigger is too big.

@beesknees: I ordered a pair of 12-18 month Robeezs, and they were waaaay too big! I'm gonna size down, but the good thing is that LO didn't seem to mind them on his feet. :) I'm just glad to know they can last even while he's fully walking!

@regberadaisy: I ordered a pair of See Kai Run Smallers, so we'll see how it goes!

Another vote for SKR smaller. But, now that she is fully walking she will wear pretty much anything :) I love our stride rite mary janes.

I really like Robeez also. Cs favorite are her Converse, she is willing to walk the most in them.

they can totally wear the soft sole leather shoes when they are fully walking. I was super surprised with how well the Robeez and Livie and Luca brands held up - and on concrete too. So well the same shoes will easily be reusable for the next kiddo.
I highly recommend those two brands and keeping your LO in soft sole shoes for awhile.

I spent a whole lot of time trying to figure out the same thing and decided to get Stride Rite duckies based on reviews. They're pre-walkers with a flexible rubber sole and leather upper.

I bought them in advance and online and turned out I estimated wrong on her size and they were too big. DD ended up wearing soft soled leather shoes that she had for months. When I first reintroduced her duckies, she hated them! They're a little heavy (especially compared to what she was used to) and let her wear fake Crocs from TCP that are also too big -- but she LOVES those! I think it's because they're so light.

So after all of that, I think I'm going to buy her some Crocs. Not even in a cute color because I want them cheap since it'll be her current size and I doubt it'll last 2 months.

Sorry for the novel, but it just feels like I've been in a never ending battle with her shoes and hopefully someone can learn from me!

DS is 11.5 months old and can walk across the room before losing his balance. I haven't gotten shoes for him yet, but was wondering what I should get since he is in this transition phase of almost walking, but not quite yet. If I buy soft-soled leather shoes, will he not have that much more time in them? Can he still wear those shoes once he is fully walking? Or should I just move onto the more supportive shoes? Which ones would you recommend? I know, lotsa questions here!
