I was pretty strict with the 'rules' and the only teas I felt comfortable with were pure peppermint and ginger teas.

My doc said a cup of chamomile is fine while I was sick but I would be sure to ask your dr.

I drank regular black tea throughout my pregnancy and I have a perfectly healthy 1 year old. One cup of tea is well below the suggested daily limit of 200mg.

My dr says 1 cup of caffeinated anything per day is fine, and any kind of non caffeinated is fine as long as it's not in excess (like more than 6 cups a day of anything besides water isn't good).

Black tea has very little caffeine compared to the recommended daily limit; so I continued to drink it every day during pregnancy.

What about white tea or red teas? I'm not sure if they have caffeine, but it's another thought! :)

@blackbird: green tea can disrupt absorption of folic acid, so it's good to limit how much you drink while pregnant.

I've had decaf black, mint, chamomile, and ginger-lemon teas. All were fine with my midwives. If you're worried, why not give a call to your doctor and verify what they are okay with?

Wait, why is green unsafe? I never came across that. I drank a lot of peach, mint, lemon, and almond flavored teas. I also drank a white chai. And a Japanese green brown tea.

Raspberry leaf tea is controversial for the first two trimesters. I think it tastes a little weird but nothing like raspberries

I'm a hot tea junkie but I'm struggling trying to find a tea that's safe to drink during pregnancy. I want to avoid black tea because of the caffeine, but everything I've read says that green tea and most herbal teas are unsafe too.

I've been sticking to mint tea, which seems to be safe, but I like some variety. For those of you who drink tea, what kind of tea do you drink?

And I've heard a lot about raspberry leaf tea. But I hate raspberries. Does it taste like the berries at all?
