We just use tap water. If we're out an about I bring our own water but we're traveling soon and I'm sure I'll use bottled water just because I'm weird like that.

Exactly what artbee said... it depends on the quality of your tap water. We use water straight out of our kitchen tap (or the daycare tap). I carry a bottle of bottled water in the diaper bag for making bottles when we are out and about.

I had checked with our peditrician when we started formula to make sure it was acceptable to use tap water and based on our community water the response was "Yes".

We boiled tap water, but ours does not use chlorine in the filtering process. I've since stopped boiling and use Brita filtered tap water.

When we went to the US to visit, we used nursery water from Babies R Us. My husband was adamant that we not introduce the chlorinated tap water.

We have filtered water in our fridge. We fill the bottles at night and then let them get to room temp.

I've read a lot about this b/c someone freaked me out by telling me I should be using nursery water (which I don't really like b/c of the flouride) and from what I read tap water is fine, but it just depends on where you live and what your water is like there.

I guess I'd be able to make a more informed decision if I actually had a better understanding of what we're worried about with tap water (if indeed we're worried).
Like, is the reasoning behind using special water a concern about microbes? (in which case boiling seems like it would fix the issue, right? do filters catch most microbes that we'd be worried about?) Or are we mainly concerned with traces of lead or minerals or other non-microbial...things? (in which case a filter would probably pick a lot of that up, but boiling woudn't make a difference, right?)

I plan Gerber baby water. I know a few people who use the Nursery brand but then I found out it has high levels of fluoride.

I feel like if DS were really little, I'd probably be more cautious and think about buying nursery water or something, but he's 7.5 months old. Our NP said to use a Brita pitcher with tap water at home, so that's what we do, but we're going to FIL's house for Thanksgiving this week, and I'm not sure he has any kind of filter. So now I'm wondering if I should just not worry about it and use tap water, or if we should buy a filter or bottled water or something.
What do you all use?
