Our roof is slanted and window placement is weird so regular curtains on a rod wouldn't work. The curtain stays in the window on a small tension rod and the black out blind is behind it so you don't even see it when it's raised. Or you can buy fabric to match the nursery and sew the blackout into that. They come in lots of different colors and work really well! The curtains were from nobetterdeal and I got a killer deal on them. DD2 has faux wood blind with regular curtains. It's still pretty light in her room at bedtime but it doesn't seem to affect her so I probably won't put blackouts in her room.
