my 2 year old likes to play with her kitchen and cook. Often times it's "too hot", "do you smell something burning", "is it deeeelicious?". She also likes to play ice cream shop and doctor.

Lo loves playing pretend!! Her favorites are:

Playing with her “babies” – feeding the baby a bottle, giving the baby a pacifier, giving the baby a teething ring, rocking the baby, singing to the baby, carrying the baby around and showing the baby things in the house “it likes” (lol)

Going shopping for food – LO will drive her little shopping cart all around the house and gather up various play food items, and then tell us what she “bought at the store”

Cooking in her kitchen (soup and pancakes are her favorite meals to make)

Doctor check-ups: she sings the check-up song from Doc McStuffins and “checks” me and DH with her light-up Elmo wand. If you don’t get clearance from the wand, you are sick and have to rest :silly:

My LO loves pretend play.

"Night night time" where she puts a blanket on the floor, tries to swaddle me, then kisses me good night. She plays the same game with her dolls.

Putting diapers on her dolls/animals.

Storytime for her dolls.

She plays with a Melissa and Doug cupcake set and play food a lot, making us dinner, cupcakes, etc.

Playing with plastic horses and getting her dolls to ride them.

She likes to put her animals/dolls in a laundry basket and give them rides (as we have given her).

She likes to pretend she's a dog... she pants and curls up in the dogs bed or goes in her crate.

She likes to dress up with clothes from a dress up box.

@skibobrown: it really is. Last night, I was watching her out of the corner of my eye (because if she catches me watching, she stops the cuteness) and she cuddled her baby doll in her arms and rocked her. OMG.

@mediagirl: @bushelandapeck: Isn't it the cutest thing ever? I am really enjoying this stage... except that sometimes DD get a bit bossy when she's pretending to be the parent in her games. I'm hoping that isn't a reflection of how I am as a parent ;-)

She makes soup for us....puts play food in a small pot and stirs with a spoon. She tells us that she has to "check the soup". She also role plays with her baby doll, puts her down for naps in the stroller and feeds her.

She will sit her dolls or stuffed animals up and read a book to them, making sure she shows them the pictures while she reads to them. It is so, so adorable. She also pretends to cook and eat and to call us on the phone.

He loves to "cook" me food in his kitchen and serve it to me. He also loves to play with his school bus and cars and tells me where they are going when I ask him. He's just started getting into pretend play at 25 months and I love it!

Our 2.5 yr old loves to play pretend! She especially likes anything where she gets to act out the mommy / daddy / teacher role. Here current favorites are:
- "Story time" where she reads a book to us, and we sit on the floor and listen
- Nap time -- she puts us down for naps and tells us when we can get up
- Bakery -- she "sells" us cookies or cupcakes. She usually then tells us that we can't eat what she sold us because "it's still too hot"
- Just this morning she started playing a game of "picnic" where she set a cloth down on the floor and used her toys as pretend food (and my kindle as a pretend plate!)

What pretend games does your toddler play?
