We have some stainless steel Lunchbots. They are lightweight. They aren't leak-proof, though. So for things that might leak or drip we use Zoli stackers. We were gifted some and I like that they can hook together and they are great for not spilling or leaking everywhere and hold a generous amount. The Lunchbots have really impressed me because we onece left our lunch box at the Children's Museum an hour away and it took us a month (!!) to get back to claim it. It was super gross, but the stainless steel cleaned right up and was like new again. So, yes, incredibly disgusting story, but the moral is a good one.

Munchkin bento. My little guy is almost 4 and can easily open it and it fits in his tiny backpack. It only has 3 compartments, but we use things to separate the foods in the big compartment. I don't know how good it would be for bigger kids.

@Mrs. Bee: it is. Another thing we sometimes do is to use the metal containers from planet box and then put them in the skip hop nylon zip up shell on days where they are needing a lighter pack :)

I love the bigger bento style boxes, but they are quite heavy and Charlie has to walk a couple of blocks to his after school program. With his lunch box, lunch bag, swimming gear and school stuff, it's a lot to carry.

I'm looking to get him something more lightweight. I wish I could design the perfect box myself! What do you use currently and do you like it?
