we went straight to umbrella stroller after the snap n go. we always wanted something lightweight. sometimes i wonder if i would have been happy with a city mini or something, but at this point with your LO being older, i don't think you'll regret getting an umbrella.

I just wanted something cheap, basic and light to keep in the car so I didn't have to load up my Mountain Buggy for short trips or errands. As an idea as to how cheap, my MB was $800, the umbrella stroller was $25!!

Our main stroller is an UB vista, which is huge and bulky and took up the entire trunk of our car. So we primarily got our smaller stroller to use anytime we were going to need a stroller with the car (visiting my parents or grandparents, shopping...) We never put the vista in the car now just keep the travel stroller there.

We have the mountain buggy nano and it reclines and folds up super small, but the sun shade isn't as good as the g luxe.

For LO1, our Maclaren was our only stroller (lays flat from birth). We were living in NYC at the time and I didn't want a huge stroller, especially for public transit. We have since purchased a full size stroller for LO2 and use the umbrella now for travel.

We bought one for $20 at target and we got it to move easier through the airport. We shipped all the other gear ahead of us via my in-laws who drove. We've since used it when we know it will be a long walk into the zoo, sports arena etc. And if I leave it parked against the wall and someone walks off with it, fine It's not as bad as them walking off with my $100+ stroller

For me, the umbrella is SOOOO much easier than the heavy, bulky stroller. We started using it around 18 months and it made a world of difference. M is 2.5 and doesn't really like the stroller so we rarely use it. But it will come in handy when we go on vacation this summer.

We got one specifically for air travel (we take a few flights a year with LO and our B-Ready is a beast), but now that we have it, we use it all the time for places we go in to in the car, or if we're walking to a restaurant we know has a tight space, or the doctor's office. We live in a walking town, so we walk all those places and I just decide between the big stroller or the small stroller based on how big the destination is.

@prettylizy: Yes I really want a recline feature I think! And a good sun shade and good storage!

But thats a lot of features to expect out of an umbrella!

Our only stroller was a BOB, which is huge and heavy. When also was 12 months we got an UB gluxe because it's light, small and easy to travel with.

We use ours for traveling, when we will be in crowded places, or when we will be using public transportation. Or if we will be going somewhere with a lot of steps. We have a g luxe and love it!

we just recently got the UB gluxe when LO was around 15 months because our vista was heavy and huge for moving around all the time. she doesn't use the stroller a whole lot these days, but we wanted something a little lighter for those times when she didn't feel like walking and we didn't want to carry her or bring the huge stroller. it's been so nice to have, but i wouldn't say it's been indispensable so far, mostly because i love the vista and think we could've just dealt with it as our only stroller, since LO loves to walk most of the time.

My decision to own one was based on several situations where I definitely needed to have a stroller in tow, but a big/expensive one might not be practical:

1) Cases where it needs to be left unattended - daycare, theme parks, outside a restaurant, etc.- and might be stolen. I didn't want to leave a stroller with high resale value as an extra temptation.

2) Cases where I need to carry it - going up and down subway stairs, on and off an airplane, into a friend's walk up apartment, etc. - particularly if I also need to have one hand free to help DD1 walk up/down stairs while wearing DD2 - yikes! :)

@T.H.O.U.: I'm kicking around the UB G-luxe right now because it has such awesome reviews and I want something that reclines. After being spoiled with the quality and ease of use of our B-ready I can't imagine going to something less awesome if that makes sense?

I would love to hear more because we are in the same boat! Happy with our B-Ready but don't know if we should consider an umbrella as LO2 gets older and LO1 doesn't need it often. I dont want to invest a lot, and have considered the new Chicco ones.

DD1 is 3, DD2 is 1 and up until now I've been super duper happy with my Britax B-ready stroller set up. As E gets older though, she spends less and less time sitting down and I'm kicking around moving to an umbrella stroller.

What made you decide to go umbrella? Will I regret spending the money on one?
