I did take a stool softener though as my midwives strongly recommended it, and I'm glad I did.</p> <p>After my second, I took Advil for the first few days as the afterbirth cramps, especially during breastfeeding, with subsequent babies are seriously no joke! Then I didn't need them. I found that the cramping was what was brutal for me. </p> <p>And then at about days 8-10 PP, I would come down with these debilitating cramps in my lower abdomen. Like...lay in bed in hysterical tears because I didn't know what was wrong. And I would take a painkiller for those. With my second, just Motrin. I took Norco once or twice at the hospital after LO2. When I asked for my Norco prescription on discharge the nurses reacted like I was an addict. I was just thinking about what I had the last time. Nothing at home except prenatals and vitamin D. My teeth were aching afterward and I read that post delivery your minerals are depleted and vit D specifically helps. During and after labor I had a 104 fever and was on every medication under the sun. It's hard for me to remember what they were giving me because there were so many pills! I had a pretty severe episiotomy and I hurt for a long time (still kinda tender at 11 wks pp!). In the hospital and at discharge I was also offered narcotics but I declined... they make me super nauseous.
