@mediagirl: no. Zofran, b6, doxylamine for morning sickness, prenatals. No Tylenol, nothing else. Obviously in an emergency they might switch. Last time I got an infection around 8 weeks and got a really weird antibiotic that was "least bad" for first tri . Nothing for cold or flu but fluids.

I went to the doctor for a sinus infection that would not go away. She called my OB who recommended Sudafed. She also gave me a prescription for Flonase.

@MUI831: A lot of doctor's don't like Afrin in general, because it can cause rebound congestion, but I don't think it is especially problematic during pregnancy.

@DesertDreams88: It's interesting what different doctors will say. I noticed that you had Afrin as approved but my doctor said that was a no no. I was so sick last year during my entire 2nd trimester and that's all I wanted. I went to an ENT and he would do nothing for me.

My OB said I could take Sudafed, Robitussin (the plain, basic varieties), and rub Vicks on my chest for my cold while pregnant.

Nothing. :/ But things that help if she can stomach it are raw garlic- I mix it into pasta sauce or salad dressing to hide it a bit, or apple cider vinegar- water down and take as a shot. Also chicken soup, and ginger/honey/lemon tea.

Tylenol. I got such a bad cold first tri and sooo wanted my alka seltzer cough and cold but that was a no no. I lied and told people I was hiding the pregnancy from that it was allergies to a mold that thrives in the winter.

I had a fever from a UTI and sinus infection at the same time in my first tri and my pcp wouldn't give me anything and said to just let it run its course but I went to my OB immediately and he prescribed me keflex (antibiotic).

He also said Tylenol was ok for my fever.

You can take the basic, original, single ingredient mucinex and robitussin. Also 1 T apple cider vinegar, 1T honey, pinch cayenne, pinch ginger. Put in a shot glass and top off with hot water. Take 3x day.

I am not pregnant (you're welcome for that disclaimer). A friend of mine is currently in hiding in her first trimester and she has a terrible cold complete with multiple different ailments. She went to her doctor a week or so ago and she said, "sorry, can't help you."

So, I'm curious. If you got really sick in your first tri, were you able to take any drugs to help yourself feel better?
